The surroundings consist of serene hardwood forests and rolling terrain typical of the Georgia Piedmont region. Crawfordville itself is a charming, historic town that has served as a filming location for several major motion pictures, providing a picturesque and authentic small-town atmosphere that enhances the overall sense of peace and immersion for visitors staying at the park.

The park provides excellent facilities for RVers, including sites with water and electric hookups that accommodate a variety of rig sizes. Many sites are nestled under a thick canopy of trees, offering exceptional privacy and shade during the warmer months. A key highlight for horse owners is the specialized equestrian campground, which features stalls and direct access to riding paths. Guests also have access to modern bathhouses, a convenient dump station, and multiple scenic picnic spots overlooking the park's tranquil ponds.

There is no shortage of activities, from touring the Confederate Museum to exploring the 21 miles of trails designated for hikers and horseback riders. Anglers can spend time at the park's three lakes, which are well-stocked for fishing, while families often enjoy renting pedal boats for a relaxing afternoon on the water. For a deeper dive into local history, the restored Liberty Hall offers guided tours that provide a fascinating and detailed look into 19th-century life and politics in rural Georgia.

Absolutely one of the most favorite state parks to go to in Georgia. Best time to go is around Christmas time where they have the park all decorated for Christmas. They have a large open field where all of the businesses decorate a small area that is Christmas theme. They play the Polar express and have hot chocolate. The museum is open with guided tours. It’s a must see.

5 Stars My wife and I just spent a week camping at A.H. Stevens State Park, and it was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest park staff—helpful, kind, and always willing to chat or lend a hand. We also met several fellow campers throughout the week who were just as welcoming. It really added to the overall sense of community and peace that the park offers. We spent our days walking the peaceful trails and exploring Liberty Hall, the beautifully preserved home of A.H. Stevens. It felt like stepping back in time, and the history was fascinating. Spring is a magical time to visit—the azaleas were in full bloom, and the dogwood trees and flowering bushes were absolutely stunning. The natural beauty of the park is breathtaking and made every walk feel like a scene from a painting. We’re already looking forward to our next trip. If you’re looking for a relaxing, beautiful place to camp with great people and a touch of history, this park is a gem!
