Blackwoods Campground is nice, clean, and peaceful. As other reviews have mentioned it is advised to take your own hand soap to the bathroom because there is only hand sanitizer available. My wife and I haven’t done much tent camping so she felt safer with all the other tent campers around us. We enjoyed our 2 nights there and the adventure of using the coin operated showers just outside the campground. While planning your trip just start saving your quarters (for the showers😀) and enjoy your adventure!

We camp here every year and love it! We love the peace & nurture surrounds - easy access to trails and coast for sunsets. Super clean—bathrooms, campsites, trash areas. Dog friendly! No showers, but there is one close by!

Stayed here multiple times, first time back to Acadia in years, and this time with the kids in tow. They did great and we had a great time. I always wish I could stay here longer but normal life awaits. Site is easy access to two island hopper lines. My only comment is I wish there was a showering place (not pay) on site. Highly recommend for seeing the park at all times of the day.

The campground is quieter than I expected. The bathrooms have hand sanitizer and running water, but no showers. The sites aren't too clustered together for comfort, but it's not like you're secluded from others unless you get lucky. Everyone we met was lovely as were the staff. You can get wood on highway 3 just outside the entrance to the park, none sold inside.

We had a lovely time at the Blackwoods Camp Ground (less the rainy weather) Our campsite was well maintained (A029) and walkable to two different restrooms. (Make sure to bring your own hand soap as it is not provided in the bathrooms.) The drive to Bar Harbor is roughly 15-18 minutes. It was fairly quiet when we’re there for 4 nights.

Very nice campground located at an ideal spot for checking out all of Acadia NP, also a very short walk to the ocean(nice place to watch sunrise). Bathrooms were very clean, however, like the website says, no showers(when I was there the showers across the street were not working, we went to the YMCA in bar harbor, nice showers for $5)

Had a great time here, spent three nights with my fiance and two dogs. The campground was very dog friendly as we were not the only campsite with dogs. We forgot our print out of the park vehicle pass, and the ranger station was able to print us out a receipt with a QR code from our phones. Save the receipts to your phone before you leave as reception is spotty. The restrooms were clean and they have trash picked up fairly often from the dumpsters.

Loved our 5 days at Blackwoods Campground. Clean, quiet and just perfect. Well maybe showers would have made it really perfect😊. Easy access to ocean sunrise, hiking trails, park loop and carriage trails. We biked everywhere! Staff was lovely as well. Thank you!

My parents took me here 15 years ago and I haven't been back until now. The campground is still as great as I remember it. Campsites are very nice with a fire pit and picnic bench. You can park your car on your site no problem. Bathrooms are kept clean and there's water spigots, trash, and dishwater disposal scattered throughout the campground. You'll likely meet some cool people from all over the US and Canada. Park Rangers are so nice and helpful - they put on family-friendly programs at the amphitheater from time to time. There's also easy access to the ocean path from the campground, and the Cadillac Mountain South Ridge Trailhead is at the back end of the A Loop. No showers on site, but there's a 24/7 coin-operated place a minute away on Rt. 3 in Otter Creek. If you want to camp at Acadia - this is THE place to do it!

Excellent gov owned campground. We arrived at 12am on a Saturday and had no problem with our late night arrival, just had to check in by 10a that morning. The campground is clean, quiet and centrally located. All roads are paved and campsites are semi private with lots of trees surrounding each. Each campsite comes with a fire ring with a permanent grate, and a wooden picnic table. Bathrooms set around the campground, potable water throughout, dumpsters, a small amphitheater and two loops with one being for group camping. There are no showers on the grounds or sale of firewood, however, there are many places right outside of the campground promising just that. There is additional parking, spaces for tents, 5th wheels, RVs, guest parking and a dump station. We didn’t have many encounters with staff but when we did they were nice. Seems that if you are staying in the park, this is certainly is your best option in my opinion. Highly recommend.

Great campground. Though wish all sites had electricity their organization and ease around made it a minor detail. The area is great and close to many locations. It’s close to many hikes as well. The people we interacted were super helpful as well. The site is spacious and the amenities all worked. The bathrooms were very clean. The bus stop is right on the campsite and makes moving around very easy. There is a nearby ocean view that is spectacular.

Loved this campground. It was very quiet at night and in the mornings. Lots of space to set up your tents and park your car. Nice fire pit and table available at your site. Very close to all the fun things to do in Acadia. There’s a trail that leads to a nice ocean side cliff and another you can take to hike up Cadillac mountain right from the camp ground.

Stayed 3 nights. While the campground is beautiful and a great location for hiking, some noisy neighbors. Should be expected in peak season though. Loved being able to get to town, the mountains and ocean.

It's a wonderful place to camp. The campsites are wooded and very private. You can leave your car at your campsite and hike to Cadillac Mountain or go the other way and hike to the Otter Cliffs. You can also take a bus to Bar Harbor. It's also very close to the carriage trails. There are showers across the street, $3 for 4 minutes.

A really great campground! The rangers at the check in station are helpful. Very easy to navigate with a map to Bar Harbor and the park from the campsite since there is no cell reception. Sites are well spaced out. The bathrooms were super clean (bring hand soap though as there is only hand sanitizer). There is a coin operated showering facility right outside of the grounds on route 3. Lots of families so everyone is respectful of quiet hours. With the location, price, and facilities its hard to beat!
