I'd rate it higher, honestly. It's beautiful, serene... but we went right before many schools start up and August so there's the 100+degree heat, and the loud, VERY LOUD drunk guys who woke me up 3 nights in a row after 3 a.m., and no ranger to call, so I was out of luck. Also a toilet stall went out of order, so there'd be a line of women waiting to use the toilet next to my campground. Other than those very big negatives, the fellow campers MOSTLY quieted down by 10p.m., and the people were nice. Lake was gorgeous, but careful of the LARGE rocks if you walk in. We weren't greeted by a ranger, nor did we know who to call about the SAME drunk campers keeping me up, so that and the scorching heat drove us away early.

The 5 stars is more for the nostalgia. This place has gone to shit. I’ve been going here for over thirty years. My best friend and her extended family have been going here for twenty years before that. We used to have to pay quarters for the showers but they got rid of that. (Not really complaining about that). There was a hiatus after Covid so we didn’t go to Hogan for 4 years. Came back last year and there’s no one at the gates anymore to regulate the campsites. Anyone can come in with no reservations. We used to see the rangers driving the campsites everyday and last year as well as this year, we only see them once or twice a week. The bathroom cleanliness has always been the same. One person comes once a week to restock and clean them. But there are working toilets, showers and sinks. The lack of rangers and police present has just dwindled so the amount of garbage and rowdiness has gone up.

This place is great for camping and lake fun. You can fish and launch your boat. Be cautious this place is very hot. It's great for kids and families. The grounds are very well maintained. The Park rangers are kind, very friendly, and helpful. There is a super plus about this place they have real bathrooms with running water and showers. Now the shower water isn't hot, hot water but it is doable and very refreshing. This is my families 2nd year coming and they love it. So for us 10/10. Will recommend 👌🏾 Love this place ❤️ 😍 🙌🏾 🏕⛺️🚙

The campsites gave ample space and access to facilities. Spaces have a pole and hook, table and fire ring with a grate. Most spaces, however, were not well leveled. Our picnic table was so sloped that we could not set out fruit or water bottles without them rolling away or falling over. The showers were good, though we had some lights not working on the men and women's side while we stayed. The showers are oversized and better than most other campsites. The restrooms, however, were not very clean. There was a lot of dirt, leftover clothes and a broken door. A few water spouts are available throughout the site, but the water quality is markedly worse than most campgrounds. The lake is nice and the ground for the tents was nice to sleep on. Overall, this place as okay if you're passing through this out of the way place, but otherwise it's not worth going out of your way to stay here.

At this time of year it gets to just over 70° and the water is very cool! The campsites are always well maintained and the park rangers make regular rounds. The lake is gorgeous but if your not entering from a boat slip then most access requires water shoes. The serpentine that lines a lot of the lake can be jagged so keep an eye on your little ones. A beautiful camp ground for nature walks, swimming, fishing, and boating.
