I'd rate it higher, honestly. It's beautiful, serene... but we went right before many schools start up and August so there's the 100+degree heat, and the loud, VERY LOUD drunk guys who woke me up 3 nights in a row after 3 a.m., and no ranger to call, so I was out of luck. Also a toilet stall went out of order, so there'd be a line of women waiting to use the toilet next to my campground. Other than those very big negatives, the fellow campers MOSTLY quieted down by 10p.m., and the people were nice. Lake was gorgeous, but careful of the LARGE rocks if you walk in. We weren't greeted by a ranger, nor did we know who to call about the SAME drunk campers keeping me up, so that and the scorching heat drove us away early.

The 5 stars is more for the nostalgia. This place has gone to shit. I’ve been going here for over thirty years. My best friend and her extended family have been going here for twenty years before that. We used to have to pay quarters for the showers but they got rid of that. (Not really complaining about that). There was a hiatus after Covid so we didn’t go to Hogan for 4 years. Came back last year and there’s no one at the gates anymore to regulate the campsites. Anyone can come in with no reservations. We used to see the rangers driving the campsites everyday and last year as well as this year, we only see them once or twice a week. The bathroom cleanliness has always been the same. One person comes once a week to restock and clean them. But there are working toilets, showers and sinks. The lack of rangers and police present has just dwindled so the amount of garbage and rowdiness has gone up.

This place is great for camping and lake fun. You can fish and launch your boat. Be cautious this place is very hot. It's great for kids and families. The grounds are very well maintained. The Park rangers are kind, very friendly, and helpful. There is a super plus about this place they have real bathrooms with running water and showers. Now the shower water isn't hot, hot water but it is doable and very refreshing. This is my families 2nd year coming and they love it. So for us 10/10. Will recommend 👌🏾 Love this place ❤️ 😍 🙌🏾 🏕⛺️🚙

The campsites gave ample space and access to facilities. Spaces have a pole and hook, table and fire ring with a grate. Most spaces, however, were not well leveled. Our picnic table was so sloped that we could not set out fruit or water bottles without them rolling away or falling over. The showers were good, though we had some lights not working on the men and women's side while we stayed. The showers are oversized and better than most other campsites. The restrooms, however, were not very clean. There was a lot of dirt, leftover clothes and a broken door. A few water spouts are available throughout the site, but the water quality is markedly worse than most campgrounds. The lake is nice and the ground for the tents was nice to sleep on. Overall, this place as okay if you're passing through this out of the way place, but otherwise it's not worth going out of your way to stay here.

At this time of year it gets to just over 70° and the water is very cool! The campsites are always well maintained and the park rangers make regular rounds. The lake is gorgeous but if your not entering from a boat slip then most access requires water shoes. The serpentine that lines a lot of the lake can be jagged so keep an eye on your little ones. A beautiful camp ground for nature walks, swimming, fishing, and boating.

At no fault if the staff the rangers are exceptional. There is a serious lack of maintenance to the facilities. Every single restroom is well falling apart on every level. There is a serious issue with the homeless coming in at night to use the facilities which honestly I wouldn't care everyone needs a shower. However they have systematically destroyed the buildings. Every coin operated shower has been vandalized to steal the daily quarters ok fine they still worked just add a quarter and pick it up and add it again working shower. That just wasn't enough they took it a step further when the place was down to two operating restrooms and tore the whole thing out assuming the quarters must be inside. Still not enough well for some damn reason they also steal the shower heads that happened over the summer as well. So only half the grounds are available with 3 working restroom at the beginning of my stay. Within 10 days they vandalized 2 if the 3 so they closed them leaving only one. However the women's shower would not work in reported it but within the week it was not fixed. Now down to 1 facility for 55 sites and only men's shower works. No problem put a note up and take a quick shower water pressure is horrible but hey it's warm and enough. The last day I was there someone stole that shower head and the container if hand sanitizer like what the hell is going on? The grounds are much cleaner then the trash riddled pretty pathetic way it was all summer so they get a gold star. Why the sheriff hasn't been called and the group living across the road that I suspect are the trespassing thieves is beyond me. Sadly stay at your own risk. My day shelter was stolen as well! Disappointing.

The campsites are nice and well maintained, but on a ridge making them all slope to one side. The bathrooms are not as well maintained and the showers are coin operated. Otherwise, it is a beautiful area that was well worth the drive. (Cell signal is spotty so don't plan on relying on that for anything)

This is our first visit to Acorn Campground. We're big nature lovers and the sites are simple and beautiful! I deducted stars because I'm not sure who is supposed to be monitoring this park. Two campsites have blazing fires going during this time of drought. One of the women's bathrooms has no light at night and toilet paper is dwindling. I just wish someone would care about this public space!

Not much to do if you are not in water sports. The site we got (#50) had no shade at all and the other are not much better. The water level was significantly lower than on the map so we had to carry our kayak for good 1000 ft. On the positive side, the lake is generally clean, and the night sky view is gorgeous
