Adirondack/Fish Creek Pond

While Lake Saranac is a beautiful lake, the camping at Fish Creek Pond leaves a lot to be desired. There was the surly gate attendant who failed to give us a map, the map - which was provided by another camper - which was inconsistently labeled to the actual sites, the showers which were a mile away and were unbearably hot. The site we had, which was in A loop (and not AO loop as indicated on the map) was way more spacious than the tiny lakeside sites. So that was a tiny plus. Also, be aware that there are no electric sites in the park.

Beautiful campground! Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Dishwasher stations available with regular patrols. There is also trucks that drive around with a bell for ice to buy :) Kind if wish they had an ice cream truck but that'd be way above and beyond lol

For families, this has got to be a dream. Facilities, waterfront sites, convenient to regional activities. It is popular, thus full, this loud. The sound of loons and coyotes in the distance compete with shouting children (and parents), and humming powered camping equipment. Pop in some ear plugs and focus on the view, it's lovely.

A great camp spot! Everything is clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are within walking distance from most sites, but you'll likely need to drive or bike to the shower building. The only negative was that the firepits were more set up for cooking and not sitting around the fire necessarily. For 2-4 people it would be fine but any larger of a group and it would be awkward.

This was our first camping trip in years and our first time in the Adirondacks, so we weren't sure what to expect. We stayed here in July of 2024 and had a fantastic experience! We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up extending it by two nights. Nearly every site is waterfront, so you can launch a kayak or canoe straight from your campsite or enjoy reading and relaxing by the water. Our site was fairly big. There wasn't a lot of privacy, but we didn't feel crowded. People seemed to mostly respect the quiet hours when we were there. The restrooms seemed to be cleaned frequently. The showers were in one big building at the very end of the campground and were free. There were also lots of outdoor activities to choose from. Of course, boating and fishing are major attractions, but there were also several hiking trails to choose from that left from the campground. Near the entrance, there is also a day-use area with picnic tables, a playground, and a beach where you can swim. We loved this campground--we will definitely be back!

There are actually two separate, yet attach sections. Fish Creek is more for trailers and RV!s, including class 5’s. This section is as nice as it can be given the terrain requirements for the type of vehicles using it…My review is for the Rollins Pond section. More wilderness, sites are more private, water is beautiful and far fewer power raft makes for a more serene experience. There’s a reason it fills up a year prior and rated the best park in NY.

Such a wonderful place to camp. Love that most sites have an access to the lake. Every site I stayed at this summer had an awesome view of the lake. We brought our paddleboards the trip for even more exploring. The only negative aspect is that the exterior bathroom lights are super bright making it difficult to sleep in a tent. Being an eye mask or stay in a sight far from the bathrooms.

Unless you have an RV, it probably isn't worth staying here. There's no grille for the camp fire to set food on. There's only one shower equipped restroom building, which for many sites is too far away. The restrooms, while plumbed, still feel more run down than other parks which restrooms that are outhouse pits that I've been to. There is motorboat traffic day and night, the sites are right on the lake so there is no avoiding this. I didn't expect motorboats to be at a lake this size. The camp sites are really close together, which if you have noisy neighbors, forget it. I ended up traveling to stay at a motel instead after finding out how disappointing this was. Cumberland Bay State Park which I stayed two nights before at had better restrooms(some handicapped friendly ones too) and shower houses, at least two buildings with showers. Had grilles for the camp fires, and better variety with camp sites. Some sites inland if you wanted to be away from lake traffic.

We love camping along square pond, nothing beats being able to just go in the lake whenever you feel like it. The sand is nice, and the views are great. Just note that everything you bring will get sandy! :) it's not the most peaceful campground as motor boats are allowed and there can be a decent amount of traffic since the sites are all right along the loop road. Also not much privacy as the sites are packed in. But worth all that for the lake access.
