This is a nice getaway location.  There's two pools (indoor/outdoor),multiple nature hiking trails with nice well maintained campsites. The area is clean,peaceful, and relaxing. A very nice lights out ordinance enforced after 10 PM.  It helps provide a great view of the stars as well.  It's an unplugged location with limited cell service near the ranger station only.  A nice place to unplug and unwind or just bring your Starlink, and watch your favorite movie under the stars.

First time to visit and worth while,  very accessible entry fee cost. So different from costal weather about 20 degrees warmer so on a cool day it was perfect weather. The indoor pool temperature was hot but very manageable. And the outdoor pool was lukewarm also enjoyable.

I’ve been coming to Agua Caliente Campground for over 38 years, so I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years — and honestly, it has only gotten better.

One thing I always appreciate is how clean everything is. The bathrooms are consistently well maintained, the park itself is always clean, and the campsites are beautiful and well cared for. The rangers and staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful, and there always seems to be someone around if you need assistance.

The pools are wonderful, the hiking is great, and the scenery out here is just amazing. It’s become a tradition for me to bring my family here every year, and it continues to be one of our favorite places to spend time together.

Agua Caliente is truly a special place, and after nearly four decades of visiting, it’s still one of my favorite camping spots.

Great campground we go back to again and again. Desert views and hot spring pools and swimming... Can't be beat for an affordable family getaway with friends. Part of the dark sky sanctuary. Check the moon phase and moon rise times for optimal star viewing.

First time here very enjoyable, the folks that keep the park up-to-date could always use a hand. Coming late at night us being a first timer and not understanding the layout of the park, the campsite was a bit difficult to find the numbers are not well laid out for someone tent camping. Campsite and trailer parking close to the pools could be a little better designated to find in the dark it would be great to get some drone photos and use those on the website I saw somebody there with the name on their trailer that they were specialists in drone photographs. San Diego Parks could benefit from running a contest of best photos by a drone of all parks that offer camping, one night free!? Maybe something bigger and better if they're really good photographers. Can't speak about the little cabins but they looked cool to stay in if you had no trailer.

This is a very nice place to camp! It’s a fairly small campground. And can be noisy when the campgrounds are full. I would recommend ear plugs at night. They also have a pool and hot springs. They also have showers that you can use, that I believe are free.

We come here every year with our family and always make such fun memories. The sunsets here are unlike anywhere else and the pools are perfect for the warm days. They also have hot springs which are fun to relax in. We always look forward to coming here.

Highly recommend this location! It's the perfect place to truly disconnect. The natural beauty is incredible—nights are amazing, and mornings are breathtaking. The pools are the perfect bonus. While cell service is spotty, the ranger station conveniently provides free Wi-Fi. The amenities are great: they have flush toilets, and showers can be used for a small fee. Be sure to bring enough food, drinks, and ice for your stay. You may even be able to book one of their cabins! Plus, the town of Julian (40 minutes away) is close enough for a quick trip to grab a great slice of apple pie.

We just returned from an early season stay in a cabin. It was nice because it had AC, as the other reviews mentioned, $70 a night, sink, bathroom and two queen platforms, beautiful view. There are a couple cabins that face the mountains so if you want the view check the map.
I love the mineral spring pools, even though the heating element was currently broken it was still about 90 degrees. I didn’t enjoy the other campers so much, a strange bunch in the pool, I can only imagine what it is like when it’s really crowded. Still a very relaxing experience.
I hiked both of their  trails and perhaps because of the early season they weren’t well maintained and signage was minimal. I got lost and had to scramble over many rocks but that sort of made it adventurous. I didn’t see any sheep but did see two campers on the trail doing something I wish I hadn’t seen!
I definitely would return here hopefully to a cabin as the tent sites are diverse and often shade less. Cabins are hard to score, also bring bug spray, watch your food for mice.
Make sure you have your supplies in order as the camp store is currently closed. El Centro is 50 minutes away but it was kind of interesting exploring their giant Walmart.
I was able to use my satellite feature to send a few texts, it’s nice to go off the grid, if you do need internet it’s a short drive to Vallecito park up the road for service.
Very beautiful, good mana, some trippy people, makes it interesting.

This is one of you go to campgrounds. It was hot in mid September, and there aren't many sites with shade, but the pools were key to enjoying the trip even with the heat. There are several historical markers to visit near by as well as the mud caves. We keep coming back to this camp ground because it is well kept and friendly.

I was delayed by the Santa Ana winds but I still got there in time to enjoy the hot springs inside. There's only three parking spaces by the pools. I'm a big truck and it was kind of a hassle and I didn't like how I was driving. So I had to park temporarily in the rangers spot so they could get out. It's one way all the way around.

I was disappointed how chlorinated it was. It really helped my skin and my muscles to be able to do some water exercises in there.

I had a beautiful Camp spot and the ranger escorted me to the spot because the sun is set while I was in the pool.

He was very nice. Also all the people that were there. There was nobody even camp near me. Huge trees it's no way does it look like a desert.

It was down to 40 °. I slept inside my truck so I could turn on the heat once in a while. The huge camp area has a table and fireplace. I have a fire.

I had to leave at 5:00 so it was still dark and it gets dark pretty early right now. The next time I come it won't be trying to make appointments and Arizona so I can spend a little more Hot pool Time.

I'm surprised someone complained about the outside pools being cold. And they said something about coming to Summer. No they close in the summer the ranger told me they only have a skeleton crew in the summer and it's 100° at night.

The scene is different at sunrise and sunset. I miss my turn because I was still asleep at 5:00 time to wake up. I ended up on 78 instead of T2.

I think next time I'm going to go up and spend one night in the state park and dispersed camping and then the next night there at the hot springs with my cat. He's not lease trained and he's never gone camping before it hits the travel but I can't leave him at home anymore he's getting too old.

This was one of the best finds to stumble across in the middle of the desert. We loved the guy at the general store at the beginning of road into the springs/camp grounds. He had lots of knowledge of the land and its history. Lots of cool crystals and books on the wild west and gem hunting along with supplies at his store. The springs are chlorinated unfortunately but still super relaxing and clean. This was a great spot to camp for the night. Had a camp table, firepit and clean bathrooms close.

Nice clean facility with $3 hot spa.  There is a hiking trail that is also very nice if you have an extra hour.

Just the best off the beaten path camping.  Hiking, biking, soaking in mineral pools. Love it.

Fantastic campground in the middle of a hot desert! Well maintained, clean, even comes with air conditioned cabins. Nothing beats having a cold pool to chill out during a hot summer day. That said, I’d probably visit during cooler months. Showers come at a cost, and they’re coin operated. But, there’s a mountain springs shower shed nearby free of charge.
