I recently stayed at the **Alamosa / Great Sand Dunes KOA** and had a very good experience overall. Getting into the park and parking the RV was easy thanks to the spacious roads. My 50-amp pull-through site was large enough to accommodate opposing slides, and I didn't even have to disconnect my truck. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and they escorted me directly to my site, which made check-in quick and stress-free. The full hookups were conveniently located, worked perfectly, and were easy to connect. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly good—I was able to get some work done from my site without any issues. I also appreciated the trash pickup right at the campsite. The bathrooms were clean, although they are starting to show their age. The pool was clean, well-maintained, and looked inviting. Noise levels were about what you'd expect for a campground located near the interstate—not overly disruptive but noticeable at times. Overall, this is a well-run campground with spacious sites, friendly staff, reliable amenities, and a convenient location for visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park. I would definitely stay here again.

WONDERFUL OASIS NEAR THE GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE The Alamosa CO KOA has been an excellent stop as we visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. We were greeted right at our truck and escorted to our site right away. There are views of the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains and you can even see the dunefield off in the distance. We were able to catch up on some laundry, visit the National Park, walk our dogs, and swim in the crystal clear pool. There were sand boards to rent for some fun on the dunes. We enjoyed a great pizza our last night so we had no cooking or dishes. The staff has been top notch…so kind and full of information. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at the Alamosa KOA while tent camping with our 2- and 4-year-old, and overall it was a great stop for families. The campground has two restroom buildings—one near the office/store and another in a cabin-style building. Our campsite was almost exactly between them, so both were an easy walk. The bathrooms were clean every time we used them. The only issues we noticed were that the cabin bathroom door was difficult to latch (I had to lift up on the bottom of the door to get it to lock), and the sink drained slowly if the water was left running for a while. I only noticed this while washing my kids’ hands because they tend to leave the water on longer than adults. There is also a large dishwashing station with a deep sink and a movable sprayer, which was really convenient after meals. The water was cold, but I was still grateful to have a dedicated place to wash dishes. We didn’t use the laundry facilities, so I can’t comment on those. Although the campground is close to a main highway, the trees and buildings between the campsites and the road did a surprisingly good job of buffering the noise. Traffic never bothered us while we were camping or sleeping. The playground was one of the highlights for our family. It was thoughtfully designed for younger children, and that made a huge difference. Instead of steep ladders or features that required a lot of coordination, many of the climbing elements were gently angled and easy for our 2-year-old to navigate. Both of our boys, ages 2 and 4, were able to play independently without needing help getting around the equipment. I stayed nearby, of course, but it was wonderful to watch them confidently explore the playground on their own. There was also plenty of shade from the surrounding trees, which made it comfortable even during the warmer parts of the day. The only downside for tent campers was the tent pad. Ours was mostly gravel, which made it difficult to drive tent stakes into the ground and uncomfortable to sit on inside the tent. We slept on an air mattress and our kids were in Pack ‘n Plays, so it didn’t affect our sleep, but campers sleeping directly on the ground would probably find it quite uncomfortable unless they bring extra padding. I’d also recommend bringing a comfortable rug or mat for inside the tent—it would make the space much more pleasant for sitting and playing. Overall, we’d happily stay here again. It’s a clean, family-friendly campground with a great playground and thoughtful amenities that made tent camping with young kids much easier.

My wife and I stayed with her parents at one of the group rv sites. It was wonderful. Love how they have it set up so you can face the other camper. Service was excellent, and they were very thorough explaining everything. I highly recommend renting boards from them as well if you plan on visiting the sand dunes. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins and really enjoyed it. It was so cute on the inside with all of the amenities you could want. A small stove, a nice shower and bathroom, a stove and a refrigerator. There is a nice size table that’s great for meals or for playing games. And the whole place smells like the forest since it's built of pine. The bed was very comfortable, and the cabin has its own heater and AC as well. The view is beautiful, so having large windows was a bonus. The sky gazing is top notch at this place. They have a little viewing platform you can walk to but just looking up in front of the cabin was fantastic. We also love that this KOA generates all their own electricity with solar panels. Overall a great place with friendly staff and the cabin gave us the feel of camping with the comforts of home!

Absolutely fantastic stay! Stayed in one of the cabins for our 1yr wedding anniversary & it was fantastic! The view from K7 cabin of Mt.Blanca was incredible. Dale from the KOA was great, very friendly and helpful with any questions or needs. 10/10 recommend!

Great campground for our big rig. Large, level lots, great views, good proximity to Great Sands National Park, and easy in/out. What really set this park apart for us was the friendly, helpful staff and such wonderful extras. There were brightly painted picnic tables and chairs, the option to purchase pizza and/or wings delivered to your door, and the nightly texts---if and only if you opt to receive them--- reminding you about the option for dinner and/or providing updates on dark sky star gazing. Great experience! We'd love to return.

This was a truely AMAZING experience. We went originally just so we could be closer to the dunes but ended up not wanting to leave. Jo was the best. She helped my daughter when she got hurt, gave great advice and made us laugh. The campground is awesome and I loved that there were no TVs in the cabins and how rustic it actually was. Bathrooms and cabin were super clean and even in the “off” season had stuff to do. Can’t wait to come back!

Loved our stay here!!! We stayed two nights, wish it could have been longer. All the staff were friendly and helpful, facilities were clean and well-maintained, and breakfast pizza was a treat. We stayed in a cabin with our kids and dog. The cabin and tent sites are well-shaded. We enjoyed grilling and having a fire in the fire pit. The swimming pool felt amazing after a day at the dunes. Great night sky viewing, even saw a couple shooting stars from the star deck. No problem with bugs mid-August. This KOA is well-loved and cared for and it shows. We highly recommend it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such an amazing stay at KOA Journey Alamosa! Our site had a patio with a beautiful mountain view, and everything was clean, peaceful, and well maintained. The bathrooms were spotless, the heated pool was perfect, and there were plenty of fun activities — bike rentals, games, a great playground, and more. The tent sites and cottages looked so charming too! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful — some of the nicest people we’ve met on our trip. It really made the experience even better. The on-site pizza was absolutely delicious 🍕 and the camp store was super cute and well stocked with all the essentials. The campground is in a perfect location — just minutes from Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls, and only about 3 miles from downtown Alamosa. We even rented sand boards right at the campground and had a blast sliding on the dunes! We’re definitely coming back and highly recommend this KOA to anyone traveling through Colorado. Don’t hesitate to book — it’s a wonderful spot for families, couples, or solo adventurers.

Exceptionally accommodating when we arrived without reservations, needing a place to recover from altitude sickness, even though they weren't officially open for the season. They were also very helpful to recommend a better route for us to continue our journey.

This was one of the best KOA campgrounds we have stayed in. Very nice site looking out at the mountains. The staff was friendly and helpful and they had the cleanest, most well equipped laundry room I've seen in a long time. Will definitely go on our repeat list.

The KOA is about 35 minutes from the Sand Dunes. We stayed for 2 nights with a group of friends, we had 2 cabins and a tent spot and everything was very clean and organized. The showers were clean and hot and there is a second bathroom block on the back side of the campground. They deliver wood and ice right to your camp spot which was awesome. Free coffe every morning! And they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner items. We got a breakfast burrito one morning for about $10 and it was delicious. The have some fun things for kids to do as well and they rent sand boards which is so convenient. We really enjoyed our stay!

Liked being a little away from town. Super friendly staff. Pool was nice. Beds in cabin were comfortable. Mini fridge in cabin. Enjoyed a pancake breakfast. Lots of items in the store if you forgot anything.
