Atwood Lake Campground
Overview
Atwood Lake Campground offers a tranquil escape on the shores of a private lake in Northern Indiana. Unlike busy commercial resorts, this park maintains a family-oriented atmosphere where the pace of life slows down significantly. With a mix of seasonal residents and transit sites, it serves as a community-centered destination for those looking to reconnect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of lakeside living and evening campfires. It is a well-maintained property that emphasizes peace and quiet.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Wolcottville, the park is nestled within the heart of scenic Indiana Amish Country. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rolling farmlands, quiet backroads, and local produce stands. The centerpiece of the property is Atwood Lake, a spring-fed body of water known for its clarity and calm. Because the lake prohibits gas-powered motors, the environment remains remarkably quiet, making it a sanctuary for local wildlife and a restful home base for travelers.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground provides essential comforts including full-hookup sites and clean, modern bathhouse facilities. Water enthusiasts will appreciate the sandy swimming beach and the opportunity to rent kayaks or rowboats from the park office for a day on the water. For those who enjoy land-based activities, the park features recreational courts for basketball and volleyball, along with a playground for children. The onsite camp store ensures travelers have access to ice, wood, and basic supplies during their stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Travelers are perfectly positioned to explore the unique culture of nearby Shipshewana, famous for its massive flea market and authentic Amish furniture shops. Nature lovers can visit the Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area for birdwatching and scenic hiking trails through diverse habitats. For a bit of local history, the Mid-America Windmill Museum is just a short drive away, offering a fascinating look at the region's agricultural heritage through its collection of historic restored windmills.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for families and retirees who prefer a quiet, low-key environment over high-energy commercial resort settings. It is a haven for paddling enthusiasts looking to explore calm waters without the disruption of motorized boats. If you value a "no-wake" atmosphere where the primary sounds are the birds and the water, this campground will feel like a perfect match for your relaxing RV travel style and appreciation for nature.

**update, new management has really improved the place. Lots of activities, fixed up facilities, and still great campers! Poor maintenance and management has drug the place down over the years. Facilities in shambles and the bare minimum done by owner. Prices keep going up and amenities keep disappearing. Campers are great friendly folks and it is right off a lake which is nice. But that is bout as far as the good goes.

Workers here are extremely rude. Especially the ladies up front. Very unprofessional and act like they are better than everyone. This is a campground, get a grip. It’s a nice place to enjoy a weekend if you’re able to avoid the management. Would be much better if they weren’t so entitled and think that they get to make every deciding factor. Terrible service.
