Bangor / Holden KOA Holiday

Welcome to the Bangor / Holden KOA!

This KOA truly makes the most of its beautiful Downeast Maine setting, with much of the campground preserved as woods and natural spaces. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of nature as you explore our hiking trails or just relax at your site. Bring your big rig or stay in one of our cabins, domes or rental trailers. This pet-friendly KOA offers a fun schedule of events, for both kids and adults, as well as there being a pool, playground, outdoor games area and gift shop.  We have Arts & Crafts several times a week, Bingo on most Tuesday and Saturday evenings, pancake breakfast on Saturdays, fire truck rides on Saturday afternoons and theme weekends and related activities planned throughout the day on Saturdays. Most of our activities take place in and around our large pavilion, which is also available for rent for your special occasion.  We have two food service locations on the property for you to enjoy. Red Barn Pizza & Cafe offers up our delicious homemade pizza, (which we even deliver to your site for free),  a wide selection of sandwiches/paninis/wraps, lobster rolls, hot dogs and even our freshly made mini donuts. Holden A Kone is the place to go if you are looking for an ice cream treat. We serve 30 flavors of Gifford's famous hard serve ice cream and 28 flavors of soft serve ice cream, so let your imagination run wild and allow us to create a yummy and refreshing dessert for you.  If you are looking to explore the area, we are centrally located and only a short drive from some of the most beautiful areas and attractions of Maine. From Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, to Fort Knox and the Observatory in Bucksport, or the quaint little seaside towns or the Moosehead Lake Region, there is something for everyone to enjoy and to be awe inspired from the experience. We are always available to answer your questions or to help you enjoy your stay with us here at Bangor Holden KOA!   Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 100 feet. We stayed for one week. The sites are very spacious and ours was level. The bathroom and laundry room are clean. The staff is friendly. We enjoyed our stay. Only complaint is the massive pothole as you exit the campground. Makes it difficult to pull Out into traffic and not good for vehicles and RV's to bounce through. KOA, how about filling it up with gravel???

Service was great. Didn't stay there but needed propane late at night and they opened to accommodate us. We are so Grateful to the kind staff. Came back days later for a refill. All the staff was kind and welcoming

The campsite was fine, The pull through is a little short. There were many permanent campers. The showers I just been remodeled but one stall had no warm water and the other had the shower curtain to fall off. I fixed one side so I could take a shower. I think for the most part the sites are level.

We have been staying at this KOA for almost ten years and it has changed for the worse once the owner sold it to a big company to run under the KOA name still. This campground used to be fun and have a great mix of people (seasonal, locals, out of state people, tourists). But not anymore! It is mostly seasonal rentals and employees that live in campers that all have a click and seem to run off anyone they don't like. We hadn't even unhooked our camper yet and they come running up to us saying our 14 year old is riding his bike without a helmet on. We have stayed here almost a dozen times and never had helmets for the kids even when they were 5 years old. They yell at the kids and have cameras all over the park if they see the kids out after dark. The pool was so cold could not go in it even in August. We had a nice site but too close to the road and the traffic was heard all day and night. They also try to make it like you have to pay extra to lock in your site or reserve right away on line they are almost full. What a scam! We paid extra for a patio site and to hold it and the campground was almost empty the whole 6 days we stayed there. We probably had over 50 sites we could have chosen for less $. My three kids wanted to leave the campground within the first 24 hours there they hated the changes so bad. The nice ice cream store closed down. They don't make hot food options anymore. And the store/ office closes at 5pm! That is unheard of at a KOA. At least 7 or 8 pm at most campgrounds. This campground would only be good for adults passing thru to hook up and sleep for one night now. We saw most of the seasonal people we talked to have already left or want to find another campground because they don't like it there anymore either. This campground will be a 50+ member only campground soon. If you stayed here years ago when Chris and his wife ran this campground and loved the place then you will be disappointed now. I would have Chris's attitude any day over this old folk run click campground now.

Stayed here overnight in one of the Domes and I’ve just got to say this is one of the cleanest and most well put together campgrounds I’ve ever been to. The staff was absolutely wonderful, the Dome was very comfortable and even had a small AC unit in it as well as mini fridge! They have events planned out that campers of all ages can enjoy, nature trails to explore, playground and jump pad for the kids, and a pool! I can’t wait until the next time we can camp here again ( it will be soon!!! )
