Baraga

Baraga is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Baraga County and is located on the western shore of Lake Superior. The population was 1,077 at the 2010 census. The city is named after Bishop Frederic Baraga, a Slovenian missionary to the Native Americans in the area in the 19th century. The city is home to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, a federally recognized tribe of Ojibwe people. The city is also home to the Baraga State Park, which offers camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The city is also home to the Baraga County Historical Museum, which features exhibits on the history of the area.
