Great location walking distance to Light house and the sea wall. Bathrooms were super clean throughout the week we stayed. What makes this campground special is the crew which is running it. Always on top of their game, happy and such amazing hosts. Very definition of happy campers to be honest. Should get all the support from patrons to keep this tradition going with one family owning it from the last 20 years. We will be back in summer!

Stayed here for the weekend. Our site was pretty short, sloped significantly (our stairs to our door were over a 'retaining' wall that made it pretty unsafe) and the maneuverability was poor due to the landscape (large granite rocks placed at corners and trees). Location wise, its great. Staff were awesome. However, other campers let their dogs run off leash, watched one come to the site next to us and poop. Owners did nothing and did not clean it up. There was poop in our site on arrival as well.

Don't expect a hot shower here! I went at 4pm with no one there and water was cold. Called office to report and Mgr said it would reset after running for awhile. Did not! Left, came back at 8pm. Showers full but someone was leaving. So waited and got in. Again, NO HOT WATER!! NOT EVEN WARM. If you want a shower it will only be COLD! We also got a crappy, too small site for our 34ft motor home directly across from busy bathhouse. Staff aware of our size and towing car. Seemed there were other better suited sites. I gather since we weren't Mainers they didn't care.

We had a great time camping at Bass Harbor. The sites were nice and quiet, and everyone was friendly. During the day, it was very quiet as most campers were out exploring. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean. The showers did run out of hot water at peak times, but once we figured that out, we went in off times and had plenty. The dog run was great for getting off leash for a few. Especially since this was our first camping trip with our dog (who is typically unleashed at home). The Bass Harbor Lighthouse is within walking distance and there were a few shorter trails to the ocean within a 5 minute drive of the campground.

Our family tent camped and the sites were beautiful, nice and shady and level and very quiet. The bathrooms/showers were clean and close to our site. Biking in and around Acadia is pretty easy. You are not far from the Bass Harbor lighthouse. The rec room is a great place to hang out. We thoroughly enjoyed this camping experience!!

We enjoyed our stay here as the camp was quiet and facilities were well maintained except for a few things. The bathrooms were VERY CLEAN and we never ran out of hot water for our showers. A nice location if you want to be away from the busy area of Bar Harbor. We stayed in one of the cabins. Do not let the word mattress in the description fool you. It was a piece of 4" foam that you sank through to the plywood bed. Had we known this we could have come better prepared. There was also supposed to be a space heater in the cabin and when we arrived it was broken. We alerted the staff the next day but never got a replacement. There is a "camp store" but if you're out sightseeing and exploring the park during the day you will most likely miss their open times.

A decently-priced and easily available way to stay on Mt Desert Isle! I like how they keep the RV park and similar amenities on one side of the road and tent sites on another. 10-min walk to a lighthouse down the road (walking is recommended because traffic balloons unexpectedly). The photo I posted is somewhat deceptive because it is the most wooded corner of the site. The star I left out is not because the bathrooms aren't clean (they are) or because we had any trouble checking in. It's that the campground is bordered by fences and roads. We thought the property would be about twice the size after reading the map, which is our own fault, I suppose. It's nice that they actually have a website that shows available sites for the range of dates and number of people you have. It does say that the site is not on the water, but why have a stock photo that is, then? You will get the same experience no matter what site you pick; they all face each other around a circular volleyball court. We had a fine time over two nights. Other campers kept it down, the campground operators weren't in our hair at all. You can get a good site for a variable price (dependent on # of people), somewhat close to your neighbors. You aren't truly out in the woods, but there are plenty of trees, a great view of the stars, and you can still get a full breath of fresh air.
