Beaver Lake - COE/Indian Creek

Overview

Indian Creek is a Corps of Engineers park situated on the pristine shores of Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas. It offers a classic Ozark experience characterized by rugged limestone bluffs and deep, clear waters. This park is widely recognized for its peaceful atmosphere and direct access to one of the region’s most popular reservoirs. Travelers often visit here to disconnect and enjoy the natural beauty of the hills without the distractions of more commercialized RV resorts.

Location & Surroundings

Located just a short drive from Garfield, AR, the park is nestled deep within the dense forests of the Ozark Mountains. The terrain is naturally hilly, providing many campsites with elevated views of the lake. The surrounding landscape is defined by steep cliffs and lush greenery, making it one of the most scenic destinations for RVers traveling through the state. It feels delightfully remote while remaining accessible for those exploring the broader Ozark region.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features over 30 sites, many of which are equipped with electric hookups ranging from 30 to 50 amps. While the park maintains a rustic vibe, it provides essential comforts including a convenient dump station and pressurized water. Guests have access to bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers. Families frequently utilize the on-site playground and the dedicated swimming beach, which offers a controlled area to enjoy the cool lake waters during the warm summer months.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water recreation is the primary draw for visitors, with a functional boat ramp available for launching motorized craft, kayaks, or paddleboards. Fishing is exceptional in this area, as Beaver Lake is famous for its striped bass and walleye. For those who prefer land-based activities, the Indian Creek Trail offers a scenic hike through the woods with rewarding views of the shoreline. Additionally, the historic Pea Ridge National Military Park is a short drive away for those interested in local history.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for nature enthusiasts and boaters who prioritize a quiet, scenic environment over high-traffic resort amenities. It is a fantastic choice for families looking for a traditional camping trip focused on outdoor recreation like swimming, fishing, and hiking. Because the sites are spaced well apart, it also suits solo travelers or couples seeking a tranquil retreat in the heart of the Arkansas wilderness.

Great beautiful place to swim on beaver for just the day. It is my favorite campground too.

The park attendant was either a former hall monitor or always wanted to be one. We literally had just pulled up and he was like a dog on a bone. After he started repeating himself (assuming insecure), I said I hear you the first time, did you not hear me the first time, we literally just pulled up. He went straight to I will call the Sheriff. I told him to go ahead. The park ranger came down ten minutes later and was so friendly. He asked if everything was alright with our campsite and if we had any issues. Then asked what the park attendant said. After that he said I want to make sure everything is alright with your site and ensuring him it was and we were good, he went on his way. Everytime he came by he was super friendly. Park Ranger 10/10 & Park Attendant 0/10. I have camped here on and off for over 20 years without incident. This time we had the issue with the Park Attendant and someone stole 3 bags of firewood from our site while we were not there.

Loved it! We were in site #7. Our camper is 23 ft long and fit just fine. BUT... if u get this site, drive in from the"wrong way". In our opinion, #9 is the best, then #8, then#7. That little section is secluded and in the trees- it's lovely! The lake was gorgeous with lots of places to walk down & swim/ float even if you didn't have a boat. There was a playground fit kids and the bath houses were immaculate. We got water on our way in, across from site 17. There's water near #7 but you'll need about 50-60 ft hose to access it. Eureka Springs is nearby and is a quaint little town with lots of shops. And don't miss the ThornCrown Chapel!

This is an RV park, but does allow tents and camping. The bathroom and showers are well maintained as well as the grounds. I will say that only a few sites have spaces for big tents. They're more designed for RV's.
