The campground offers a variety of accommodations, including cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. The cabins are nestled among the redwoods and offer a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Big Sur Campground & Cabins

Just left & it could have been a terrible trip....DUMPED RAIN & we were in a trailer. The staff here made all the difference and we actually booked a week in August before we left!
How they kept the bathrooms/floors spotless with all of the mud and rain was so impressive & appreciated! Yeahhhh...those showers are fabulous, especially when you are freezing from the weather. Love the perks of the hot chocolate, cute mugs, ice & fire wood...YAY!
We really look forward to coming back when the weather is better but considering...we had a GREAT stay, thank you :)

We were looking for last minute dog friendly accommodations in Big Sur and this fit the bill as we were willing to car camp.
Note the cabins look cool, but don’t allow dogs :-(
They have a mandatory $30 fee which included a bundle of firewood, two mugs and free ice and coffee.  We used the firewood, but didn’t have use for the mugs.
The sites are highly variable in size and proximity/separation from your neighbors .
It’s a good point to stay when down in Big Sur even for one night.  Note that dog friendly beaches and trails are limited in this area, although the campsite itself and river access are great for dogs.

We came in really late and asked if they would wave the mandatory $30 charge and they never got back with us about it. They charge you $30 for coffee no matter if you want it or not and firewood which we didn’t need because it was raining. Also the $30 charge was not waved even though the shuttle wasn’t running. They should consider changing the fee if those items are not wanted or needed. Overall expensive for what we received.

I’m not a big campsite person. I usually like to do dispersed camping. But this camp site was really awesome. The free ice really came in handy seeing as there’s not really anything close by where I could stock up on ice unless I drove 20 miles into town. The map On the website isn’t very good at showing the sizes of the sites and some of them can be really tiny so at the end of this review, I’ll list the sites and what I can remember from them. Last note that I’ll make is you should definitely come prepped with your own firewood because the firework bundle at the site is $14 and that’s actually the cheapest in the area. Everywhere else is even more expensive.

I stayed in campsite number 37. It’s about a 20 foot walk from the parking space uphill to the site, but it is completely away from everyone and one of the largest sites at the camp. It’s also very flat so there aren’t any issues about sleeping on a hill. I enjoyed it because I feel like I had the most privacy. It’s also not a far walk from the bathroom.

The next largest sites that have the best privacy are sites 29 and 27. Site 35 and 31 are small and also not flat so you’ll be sleeping on a slant.

23 21, 19 and 17 are also pretty good maybe just a hint smaller The sites are close together.

The river sites are pretty cool but if you pick site 5,6,7,8 or 9 they are extremely small and can barely fit your vehicle and a small four person tent. Definitely better if you plan on car camping. You’re also along the main road so you’ll have people driving by you constantly when they’re in and out. they are right on the river, but honestly, you can get a better site and still be close to the river.

If you book site 16, you will be practically on top of the playground and you will hate it. It’s also really small. 20 22, 25 and 28 are rather small but could fit a larger tent that fits seven or eight people.

Sites 71 73,75, 79, 80, 81,87, 83, 85 and 89 are all very close to each other and in the center hub so definitely ideal for people that are going with friend groups and I want to be next to each other. But you are in the loop around where cars drive in and out so if you’re looking for privacy, those probably aren’t the ones for you.

Site 84 is literally in the middle of traffic and has a couple of trees surrounding you, but is also a small site. Probably the worst one of the camp and I would avoid if possible

The best river side sites were 10, 13 11, 15 and 17

When I was emailing and shopping around for campsites, I was told that campsite number 50 is the largest site. But I did not go look while I was there

There is an A-frame cabin, which is cabin C and that one is basically on the corner in the back by the woods. It’s going to be the most private cabin, has its own little patio and the windows face the woods which is super pretty.

I really enjoyed this campsite. The staff was super nice. They provided fire starters. They have a little shop with candies and supplies, and the coffee mugs that you get when you first check in or really convenient and they’ve been added to my camping supply box. I could definitely see myself coming back here in the winter and renting a cabin. It is a very cool scene. There really is no service so be prepared to disconnect. There is Wi-Fi however it’s just a little section over by the camp shop which means that you won’t have access to the Wi-Fi at your campsite. It’s also about 20 miles into Big Sur which means that you’re close to the state parks and can get Access to the parks quickly before the crowds start.

I also like to know that I did this trip completely solo and there wasn’t a moment at this campsite where I didn’t feel safe. So if you’re a female solo traveler, this is definitely a good campsite to go to.

Definitely go here if you want to stay away from the bougie, sterile hotels when visiting Big Sur! A beautiful, low-key campground that captures the true spirit of the area. Quiet woods, fresh air, and rustic cabins… Just lovely!

Amazing place to stay to disconnect for a little while 🏕️  This was my first time camping and the amenities made it so great. The showers are comfortable and we got free firewood, as well as two cute little cups. But above all that I just want to commend the staff here for the above-and-beyond service! I realized about an hour after leaving that I left my necklace in the shower the night before. Not only did they find it, they also sent it to me to San Francisco FREE OF CHARGE!!! Like what!!! I got it in the mail today and it was taped up and folded into a sheet so it didn’t get all tangled in transit. Sooo sweet. Thank you so much!!!!

10/10 best campsite ever!  I'm still missing the showers!  The site is clean and family safe.  The staff is so helpful and kind.  All the things they include are so thoughtful and kind.  From free ice, 1 bundle of firewood, 2 cups with logo and tubing for everyone to enjoy.  I have never stayed in a site like this and I have gone camping for at least 10 years.   Such a family safe place to enjoy kids being kids.

they charge 20 dollars for wifi. i have never heard of such thing.
even guests that stay there have to pay for WiFi 20 dollars. so if there are 100 guests that stay there and they need to use a phone and need wifi they all have to pay.
wonder if using their bathroom is another extra charge.
we stay at a cabin near by and they offer wifi for their guests complimentary

Upon check-in, we were told our cabin wouldn’t be ready until 4 (an hour late). We also found out they had switched our cabin without notifying us — I had specifically chosen one farther from the basketball court, which we no longer had. The staff apologized but unfortunately we could still hear kids playing basketball constantly. The bed was also very uncomfortable. While we loved Big Sur and the campgrounds are beautiful, I probably wouldn’t stay in this cabin again given the price.

We spent one night in a beautiful and reasonably priced cabin at Big Sur Campground & Cabins. We really enjoyed our stay. If you are not cooking your own food, there are plenty of restaurants nearby to grab meals, as well as a small market in walking distance from the campsite. Our cabin included firewood and a mug, as well as access to tubing on the property (which we didn’t try). The only downside is how crazy close all the cabins are built. There are windows throughout the cabin, which is great, but people can see through all of them and so we kept them closed the whole time. The same for the campsites. If I was camping on the property, I would be frustrated by the closeness of the campsites. It’s not quiet or secluded, if that’s what you’re looking for, but if you’re okay with a bit of a crowd, then it’s a good option for people trying to find some of the limited accommodations in Big Sur.

Cabin was beautiful, well stocked, comfortable and very clean. Site had wonderful amenities like pay phone, laundry, and a fantastic playground. We will definitely come back again to stay here.

This place is the best! It’s family friendly, the staff is incredible, and it transports you back to a time before technology took over our lives.  No wifi means family bonding, filling the hours with physical work, kicking back, and good old fashion wholesome fun. Apart from being conveniently located in Big Sur, you can hang at the campground all day long and find things to do. Highly recommend this business! The playground is perfect for young kids, teach your older kids how to manage camp, or take a dip in their refreshing water basin. A hidden gem. Worth every dollar. I’m The summer time they have soft serve ice cream that is simple and delicious. We like river sites, the sound of water rushing is excellent for falling asleep to. Cheers to this campground!
