I really enjoyed the walk, although it was quite long, about 5 miles. You have to cross streams all the time. I especially liked the waterfall with its huge rocks, which require some effort to climb.

This is one of our favorite places to go ever since my childhood and now taking our grandchildren. Picnic area is open and accessible and has been reasonably maintained. There is still damaged from Helene that has not been corrected and the bathrooms are not working. They do have porta johns that are clean but it is very surprising they have not made the repairs needed. The park service should definitely invest in making these repairs as soon as possible

Wonderful park with quaint picnic spots by the creek. Rented kayaks and enjoyed the two-hour trip around the lake.

July 19, 2025. Strange my review is centered around the restroom access. Park is ok if you don't need a restroom. Restroom buildings are closed. 2 port-a-johns - nasty. No toilet paper. We were disappointed. Bring your own TP. Front-load trash dumpster has a sign to latch it due to bears in the area. Latch broken. Door will open easily. Once these items are "fixed", it's a nice park.

Beautiful lake and .mountain views. Nice hik around lake, about 2 miles. There are some trees down, but they have been working on clearing the trail. Campground is closed for now (1 March 2025)

This was my first time at this park. I stayed 4 nights. I plan to return someday. So peaceful! Deer roamed the campsites. Sites are close however with the trees you have privacy. Fire pits and picnic tables. Showers are only in one loop. Tent loop D. Pets welcome with leashes. Not that I had any. The only trash dumpster is at check in.

One of my favorite camping grounds. This place has everything you could ask for! Tons of private scenic and tranquil camping spots. Recreation lake a short walk away and an incredible hiking trail that offers beautiful views of a meandering creek. Incredible rock faces, rhododendrons...clean bathroom facilities and even a shower house with hot water. Staff very helpful and kind. And if you get tired of cooking food for a meal or two, blowing rock is 10 min drive away with a brewery and mellowmushroom as well as a beautiful main drive and outdoor market.

Great views! Peaceful. Parking area and a sidewalk to capture stunning views. My photos are doing this area a disservice because the place is gorgeous. There are little cut out areas to capture different views of the area (not shown on my photos). The parking area was big enough to hold several cars and it was easy to navigate. Go! Explore!
