Overview

Buck Creek RV Park offers a welcoming and well-maintained retreat for travelers visiting the heart of the Big Country. Known for its quiet atmosphere and clean facilities, this park provides a reliable home base whether you are passing through on a long haul or staying to explore local history. The park prides itself on professional management and a layout that prioritizes ease of access, ensuring that every guest feels a sense of security and comfort during their stay in Abilene.

Location & Surroundings

Conveniently situated along the I-20 corridor on the eastern side of Abilene, Texas, the park provides easy on-and-off highway access without sacrificing a peaceful night's sleep. The surrounding landscape features the classic, wide-open vistas of West Texas, characterized by hardy mesquite trees and expansive skies. Its location serves as a strategic gateway for those traveling between the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the western reaches of the state, making it a prime transit point for seasonal travelers.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed with modern RV needs in mind, featuring full hookup sites that provide both 30 and 50 amp electrical service. Most sites are designed as spacious pull-throughs, which easily accommodate big rigs and towing setups. On-site amenities include:

  • High-speed Wi-Fi access for remote work or streaming.
  • Clean, climate-controlled private showers and restrooms.
  • A dedicated laundry facility for long-term convenience.
  • A fenced dog park area where pets can exercise safely.
Each site is gravel-padded and leveled to ensure a quick and simple setup process for arriving guests.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying at Buck Creek puts you just minutes away from the rich cultural heritage of Abilene. Families often enjoy a day at the Abilene Zoo, which houses over 1,000 animals, or exploring the interactive exhibits at Frontier Texas! in the downtown district. For those interested in Western history, the nearby Buffalo Gap Historic Village offers a glimpse into life in the late 19th century. Additionally, the park is close to the Taylor County Expo Center, making it a popular choice for visitors attending rodeos and livestock shows.

Who This Park Is Best For

Buck Creek RV Park is ideal for cross-country travelers who value a quiet, secure environment with reliable utilities over flashy resort amenities. Spots are large with front and back yard. Laundry room is absolutely trash. The grass is never cut. Always having water issues. The road has so many potholes you drive a zig zag. It is a promising park but it is quickly going down hill and yet they continued to raise rent without any upgrades. Trash is always overflowing.

Excellent spot for the night while traveling, easy access. Large pull thru level sites, full hookups. Pet friendly. Staff support was exceptional.

Here for work at the data center north west of Abilene. Owners were friendly and helpful at booking and sites are long and easily accessible, quick on/off to the interstate. Walmart, coffee shops, shopping and church is just a 12-15 minute drive. $100 cheaper than where we previously searched and same distance to the job site. Kind of a country feel and no loud noise like jets or trains which is a big plus! Very peaceful place thus far.

No frills, no pool, and no bath house, but the sites are level, long and pull-through; the utilities work fine; and it was clean and pretty quiet. We didn't see a camp host or staff. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the website said it had a pool and bath house. It had neither. Nice place to spend the night, but I probably wouldn't stay much longer.

If you're looking for quiet and roomy, look no further. Many sites have enough trees for nice shade in the summer heat, and all sites are HUGE. A very nice young couple own & operate the park and live on-site. They're clearly building a future, so I would expect even better things to come. I won't need to shop around for future stays in the Abilene area.
