Calistoga RV Park

RV Park

Overview

Overview

Calistoga RV Park offers a unique opportunity to stay in the heart of California’s famed Napa Valley. Situated within the Napa County Fairgrounds, this park serves as a functional and scenic basecamp for those looking to experience the charm of a town known for its thermal hot springs and world-class vineyards. The atmosphere is relaxed and straightforward, providing a peaceful retreat where the focus remains on the surrounding natural beauty and local culture.

Location & Surroundings

The park is ideally positioned at the northern end of the Napa Valley, just a short walk or bike ride from downtown Calistoga. Guests can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Mount Saint Helena. Because the park is part of a larger fairgrounds complex, the setting feels open and spacious. The location is perfect for travelers who want to leave their rigs behind and explore the local artisan shops and restaurants on foot, enjoying the town’s laid-back, walkable layout.

Amenities & Park Features

Travelers will find well-maintained sites that cater to a variety of setups, including:

  • Full hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp electrical service.
  • On-site laundry facilities and clean restroom buildings with showers.
  • A pet-friendly environment with designated areas for walking dogs.

The park provides essential conveniences such as on-site WiFi access for basic connectivity. While the park maintains a more traditional fairgrounds aesthetic, the presence of mature trees provides shade, and the sites are designed to accommodate even larger RV models comfortably.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

There is no shortage of activities within minutes of the park. Visitors can experience the Old Faithful Geyser of California or explore the ancient redwoods at the Petrified Forest. For those seeking relaxation, the area is world-famous for its natural mud baths and mineral springs. Wine enthusiasts are perfectly situated to visit some of the region's most historic wineries. Hikers will appreciate the proximity to Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, which offers challenging trails and panoramic views of the entire valley.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent choice for adventure-seeking couples and families who prioritize location and accessibility over resort-style amenities like swimming pools. It is particularly well-suited for big-rig owners who need a reliable spot to park while touring the valley’s narrow vineyard roads. If you value a quiet, clean, and centrally located home base that allows you to spend more time exploring local wine country and thermal spas, this destination fits your travel style perfectly.

Great place to camp to be near fun things to do. Full hookups. Uber will come get you if you want to do wine stuff. There is a small grassy area for pets, but it'd be way nicer if fenced. There is a dog park about 1.5 miles down the road. There was a tractor pull at the fair ground which was kind of neat. We camped with a big group, but we'd definitely return.

The campground host Kenny and his wife are super nice. We enjoyed our stay! So close to a lot of fun things to do and a shuttle that takes you into town! Nice hot showers that you don't need tokens for! There is soap and paper towels in the bathrooms which are super clean. We came from staying at a National Parks(Yosemite-Wawona Campground) with no soap or way to dry your hands or showers. Yes it is a National Park but basic amenities in the bathrooms are a no brainer. The dump station is right in the park. We were totally happy staying here. Yes a picnic table would be nice but we just set up our table and it was fine. For where this place is located it is a little gem!

This place is tucked back a few blocks off main street and quiet. The bathrooms are in need of an updating but very clean. My only complaint is that there aren't any robe hooks by the shower stalls. I would definitely stay here again though but next time I will bring a drill and mount some hooks

Paid $1000 for 2 weeks even though I didn’t need all the hookups. Just needed a place while I looked for permanent housing due to a job nearby. When I arrived after driving 8 hours the day before my first day at the job, the hosts (who’d I’d spoken with a week before to make sure it was ok) said they’d spoken with a Shelly (apparently the person in charge?) and she said I wasn’t allowed in my van, which has a bed, sink and stove and loo. When I got upset because I never received a single text, call or email about that and would’ve made other arrangements. To be told that late in the day before my job starts is super unprofessional and I hadn’t even received a refund. They said she had called me which was a lie. If they’d spoken to me like they claimed they did, I wouldn’t have come and would’ve made other arrangements. I tried talking to them but they said they’d call the cops and had told me I couldn’t book (all they’d said was I couldn’t stay longer than 2 weeks which is why I booked only for 2 weeks) They have a bathroom. They’ve got plenty of space. Make it make sense. My reservation confirmation from yesterday reiterated I had paid for 2 weeks . Cop agreed with me. Apparently the camp hosts (who seem to be all over the place with what they said and their emotions and look like they drink too much or are on drugs) told the cops I was going to a rehab? LOL what?!? Why make up stories? Clearly they were trying to degrade my character to get the cop to treat me differently (which didn’t work but begs the question why they’d be blatantly lying to law enforcement) Between that and their emotional outburst when I came to check in, I’m shocked at the horrific customer service and a bit bewildered tbh. Use your money elsewhere. This place isn’t it. The fact they’ll treat customers like criminals & call cops on paying customers instead of taking accountability for their errors. Also, don’t take money if you won’t provide the service. I get that they used to get squatters but that’s not me and I’m a super easy camper: I work most days and am actively looking for an apartment. I wouldn’t even use their hookups but somehow my business isn’t wanted? lol ok. Let’s be clear; they’re not a CAMPGROUND as they advertise. They don’t want people with tents, self sufficient vans or anybody else but RVers for all days except big events.
