This was our basecamp for visiting Camden. We love the town and the park. Clean, safe, friendly. If you're camping, there's no additional fee to drive up Mt. Battie. We discovered that Edna St. Vincent Milay wrote a poem about the view!

Cool state park in a great location. We camped one night in the off season. Park staff were friendly and helpful. We drove up to enjoy the view which is pretty spectacular, had dinner in Camden, then returned to the site for a warm campfire on a cool night. There are trails for hiking, decent cycling options, we saw a ton of wild turkeys. Only downside is that the bathroom/showers aren't quite at the level we're used to with the PA State Parks that we frequent. The campsites are spaced nicely so some are not right on top of each other, some are, but we had a lot of options this late in the season.

Camden Hills State Park is an absolute gem! The park offers stunning viewpoints overlooking Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and the surrounding forests — the kind of scenery that makes every step worth it. Whether you hike up or drive to the top, the views are gorgeous throughout. Highly recommend visiting, especially on a clear day when you can see the islands spread out across the bay. 🌲⛰️✨

The view from the top of Mount Battie is absolutely gorgeous. In the fall it must be amazing!! We’ve been there several times through the years. They’ve made some improvements including a lead up sidewalk from the parking area which is wheelchair accessible. It cost $12 and change to enter the parking area which for 2 out of state residents in a vehicle.

We camped here for a few nights and enjoyed the campground. When checking in the woman at check in was helpful and very nice. Site was great, park was quiet at night, and the other campers were friendly. Would camp here again. Oh- and Mt Battie view is AMAZING.

It was the off season, and in the winter. Trails were icy. But it wasn't so bad that I never felt unsafe at any point. The climb and the view at the end was very much worth it. If you go during the winter keep the snow and ice in mind, bring water as well.

Spectacular views! Hiked the seaside trail and picnicked at the overlook. Our pup decided to jump up on a rock & pose for a picture. A picture perfect memorable day in Camden ! Can’t wait to return and stay for a longer visit.

Highly recommend this park for the walking trails. The park ranger that we encountered purchasing tickets was very coarse. Totally surprised by her attitude. Nevertheless we enjoyed this state park tremendously. A little disappointed that the castle was under construction but future visitors coming to the park will totally enjoy the renovations. The views are spectacular overlooking the harbor and downtown Camden.

This is a great place to camp, only 2 miles from town so great for walking to. Showers could be a little hotter and basically upgraded. Across the highway is the rest of the park, but there is really not much access to the beach from there. But beautiful views 😍
