Campground by the Lake South Lake Tahoe CA is a beautiful campground located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. This campground offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. It is a great spot for camping, fishing, and swimming. There are plenty of amenities available, including a camp store, showers, and a playground. The campground is also close to many of the area's attractions, including the Heavenly Ski Resort and the Emerald Bay State Park.

High black bear activity in mid August. We were surprised because the campsite is so close to town and within 50ft of a loud major road, but we had to leave the campground in the middle of the night due to a confident black bear repeatedly going through peoples campsites. We didn’t get any sleep from being on high alert and from hearing other campers yelling/shooing the bear away every 10-15 minutes.

We also didn’t see any signs in the campsite warning of bear activity and the campsites didn’t have bear lockers to store scented items/food. Didn’t see any bear-safe dumpsters or trash cans throughout the site either.

Otherwise, the campsite seemed like it would’ve been a fine place to spend the night but unfortunately, we weren’t willing to stick it out.

Was told $57 for first night then $47 for each following night. Accepts cash and credit card.

Great location, great campground, but it’s loud.

Not only do you hear the highway traffic, which is understandable, but there are so many generators, and people up late partying until after midnight on the weekends despite the quiet hours starting at 9pm.

I’m good with happy people sounds until 10 or 11, but after that it’s just inconsiderate- and there’s no one on site doing anything about it.

We were tent camping and all around us were generators, which are allowed from 7am-9pm. The people next to us ran theirs all day and until 9pm. It didn’t seem to bother them. Another camp had theirs on next to us until 10:30 when I finally asked them to turn it off.

As a tent camper, I just don’t get it.

I wish they would limit generator hours to just a few in the morning and a few in the evening, or even make a section as a non- generator area so tent campers can enjoy the space too.

I had to request a refund for my reservation due to unexpected events. Despite being outside their 48-hour “no refunds” window, the reservation was not cancelled. No one even responded to my calls or emails. I want my money back.

Great Camping across from Lake Tahoe,  centrally located, near beaches, food, sporting rentals.

Great camp ground. Location is good
Has showers and restrooms. Can get a little packed during peak season. Camp host are great.
Watch out for tree branches and pine cones with your Rv

Centrally located in Tahoe, feels less like a campground and more like a very expensive parking space. For the price you’d think the showers would be free, but those are also coin operated. There are lots of sites and it’s well maintained, but I would not spend my money here when there are better campgrounds nearby

Campground in the center of town. Great location for traveling around Lake Tahoe! Not too many amenities but has clean bathrooms and an affordable dump station (free for guests!).

Good place to stay while you explore nearby tourist destinations but the ants sure are a problem though. Also, remember to put your food somewhere that the bears can’t get it because they’ll scavenge here all right.

We got there in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday. The camp host’s were nowhere to be found. We called multiple times and knocked on the office door. Two other guests tried the same thing. We ended up following the late arrival payment instructions and left cash in an envelope.

This is a great location in South Lake Tahoe! Close to the lake, has showers and flush toilets,  and a short walk to restaurants and grocery stores. The campground can be a bit noisy due to proximity to Hwy 50 and the occasional blasting stereos in the campsites, but is pretty quiet at night. Note that this campground is only open for the summer months and requires reservations. There may not be on-site staff when you visit, but site permits are checked every day to verify that all visitors are valid.

Went camping with my family had good time.

We stayed at this campground with our trailer for 1 week. We absolutely loved it. Awesome location, well maintained with hook-ups, very close to the city spots, right across from the beach and other activities.

Yes due to Covid situation their seasonal staff is not available and public restrooms were closed. But they communicated that well in advance.

We would love to come back, best wishes for upcoming Happy campers!
