OVERALL GREAT PLACE BUT READ BELOW FOR BIG RIGS *See "BIG RIG" notes below Clean: The place has a crew that goes around cleaning all day. They rake and blow your lot off before you arrive. Friendly: Staff that greet you are very friendly, even a little sassy (I like that!) and very helpful Location: Great location, flat and level, and only minutes from everything important (Navy base, Sea World, Downtown, Hillcrest). *BIG RIG notes: I have a 45' coach with a toad. San Diego is a big city with busy streets. This location is handy as it's not far from the I-5 freeway. However.....between the freeway and the RV Park, the streets are very busy, 2 lane or less and very narrow streets. Everyone is in a hurry and know nothing about big rigs except we are "in their way" (lol). Check your GPS when getting close. I came in I-5 Southbound and took Exit 23 onto Mission Bay Drive no problem. Point 1) But when turning right onto Grand Ave (map it first and see what I'm showing you) it is a HAIRPIN turn at a stoplight and you must be very careful. You can make it! But you can't let the busy traffic intimidate you as you move slowly and across both lanes. Point 2) After navigating this corner, you will be on Grand Ave for about a mile and you must turn on Olney Street. This street is also very narrow, parked cars on both sides but the traffic is not heavy (it's a military neighborhood). But my point is, it is narrow for a big rig. Point 3) My suggestion is you find a larger street West of Olney (Morrell or Lamont??) to turn on and then enter Pacific Beach Dr which takes you right into the RV park. Point4) I made it safely with the GPS directions I just spoke about. So, you can make it too Final Notes: Great place, great staff, great location! We have stayed here 4 times =)

A great RV Park with lovely views of the Pacific Passage. The park is very serene. It has all you need for your RV, and you feel very secure in the place. But for those who aren’t fond of cooking, the place might seem like it lack more dining options.

We enjoyed our stay at Campland on the Bay, and will be returning very soon. We stay with our dogs and didn't have any issues. The RV park is dog friendly! They have parks and runs all over the park. We were able to let our dogs enjoy the beach ⛱️ in the early morning and afternoon. The cantina was dog friendly, for the most part. All the staff, especially Travis, was welcoming and easy to talk to and were engaging. RV neighbors were close, but that's ok, because, everyone was super delightful and easy going. There are RV dumps within the parks, which makes it convenient. Overall, we recommend Campland!

My family stays here when they come in from AZ, and we love staying here with them as locals. So many amenities, everything is well maintained and clean, and staff is usually so nice. Lots of families to socialize with and being on the bay is awesome. Easy bike ride to PB as well.

This was our first time staying. I think this place has reached its peak and is in decline. I booked a preferred site. They initially put us in the Q section with long term residents and the campsite next to us looked like a homeless encampment. The shower next to that site had a sign saying there was no hot water until further notice. The next morning we asked to move and they kindly moved us. Staff were friendly and helpful. But The whole place was empty so I’m not sure why they put us in the worst spot. The place needs maintenance-the game room games were broken, there were piles and piles of sand everywhere, leaves and dirt on the skate park. There was a beer cup that sat on the stage the entire time we were there and we watched numerous employees walk by it without picking it up. The grass wasn’t mowed. The sewer caps were off or missing at most of the sites. A group of unsupervised kids showed up at the empty campsite next to us and started a fire and then caught sticks on fire and were hitting them against the picnic table spreading embers all around. Security didn’t address it after a call. The kids running around on scooters seemed out of control and unsupervised so I wasn’t comfortable with letting my younger kids out to ride around. I watched kids playing ping pong by throwing the paddles into the grass. It was chaos. We thought it would be a nice time with the kid friendly things. We ended up leaving a day early. It’s very expensive for what it is. We will not be back. I can’t imagine people returning unless they have nostalgia for what it used to be.

It's hard to rate this camp ground. The staff are friendly, there are A LOT of activities to keep yourself occupied from the beach, to games, to water sport rentals. The location is subjective so I left it blank. I prefer camping and campgrounds in nature, this one is in the suburbs surrounded by homes, condos, and commercial establishments just outside the front gate. If your idea of camping is setting up in a big parking lot then this is the camp ground for you. With all the additional activities this camp ground offers you won't be bored.

Campland offers free parking and coastal access to non-guests. Obtain a pass and guidelines at the entry booth and adhere to the rules. There is a public restroom adjacent the beach. This is a great place to enjoy the bay in a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.

The campground is huge, the spots are right on top of each other and a bit small but everything worked out great for me. My neighbors were great so it worked out fine. If your neighbors aren't so great you may not enjoy yourself but that's the luck of the draw. The campground is well maintained, the bathrooms and showers were super clean and showers are free. The beach on the bay was very nice and relaxing, the bay water was clean. Just a heads up, quite hours are from 11pm to 8am, everyone is having a good time all the way up to 11 so if your early to bed you may have a hard time getting and staying asleep. I had a great time and will be back for sure.

I recently stayed at Campland by the Bay and had a great overall experience. The location right on Mission Bay is hard to beat—whether you’re camping, RVing, or just spending the day, the views and access to the water make it special. There are plenty of family-friendly activities, from bike rentals and water sports to playgrounds and organized events. The marina access and beach area add a nice touch if you want to get out on the water. The atmosphere is lively and fun, especially on weekends. Between live music, outdoor games, and the general buzz of families enjoying themselves, it feels more like a little community than just a campground. That being said, if you’re looking for a quiet, secluded getaway, this may not be the best fit—it’s more about energy, activity, and socializing. The facilities are well-kept with clean bathrooms, showers, and laundry areas. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and check-in/check-out was smooth. Food and drinks are available on site, but it’s also just a short drive to plenty of options in San Diego. Overall, Campland by the Bay is a fun, vibrant place to stay, especially for families and groups looking for both convenience and entertainment. I’d definitely recommend it and look forward to returning.

Love Love Love this place. This was our second time staying at Campland on the Bay. We will continue to stay here in the future. The facility is very clean. Enjoyed listening to the bands, riding our bikes, Playing on the beach and enjoying the hot tub. Walker helped us With finding a new spot because the one we chose was next to a dumpster. He was so kind, and his laughter was infectious. Perfect person to have welcoming guest. I hope he is there every time to welcome us.

Campland on the Bay is a wonderful camp 🏕 by the beach ⛱️. Outstanding location. We had a great time enjoying the sand, pool, jacuzzi, and all the fun activities available at a walking distance on site. We loved all the amenities such as restaurant/bar, drinks 🍸, fireworks 🎆 , and beautiful views during our morning and evening walks. This camp has a basketball court 🏀, skateboarding 🛹 area, children's activities/games, volleyball on the beach, and more. The children safely rode their bikes. Respectful and family oriented campers. We met a nice family parked by us and became friends. We shared meals together, played cards, shared family stories, and had great laughs by the fire pit. This is a perfect camp to enjoy with friends and family. The bathrooms and showers are kept clean. The showers have a door for privacy with a bench inside with enough room to put your items away from the wet floor. We look forward to camping here again. Thank you 😊

I'm a San Diego local, but...Attended Mission Bay Vintage Trailer Rally at Campland...it is FAB! Has a store, a restaurant(good cheeseburgers!), a bar, live music, a couple of pools, a beach... so much to do! The electricity hookup worked well. The bathrooms(with showers, too) are nice and clean. There are security folks around, but I felt perfectly safe. Great place!

This place has gone down hill immensely. New ownership and management are pathetic and trashy. The only thing they care to enforce is stopping kids having fun and enjoying their vacations. However they don’t care about all the filthy trash, smoking marijuana and blowing smoke all over other campers and campsites. I would not recommend anyone visiting here untill this place gets it together and starts enforcing common sense not allowing your guest to fill the campsites with marijuana smoke that blows all over your kids.

I haven’t stopped talking about Campland on the Bay since we got home! From beginning to end, it was a great experience for us first-timers. Backing into our spot was easy, the entire park is super dog friendly, the Cantina has great food and drinks, pools were heated, made friends in the hot tub. Had lunch on the beach, met so many nice people, seems to be tons of activities for kids. What I love the most is the sense of community at Campland, since several campers stay long-term. 10/10 would recommend! We will give going back.
