I'm wondering how KOA makes the distinction between a "Journey" and a "Holiday"? Some of the KOA Journeys we've stayed at were meticulously maintained and had as much in the way of amenities as any RV "resort". This particular KOA "Holiday" did not meet those expectations at all. Gravel roads and fairly well-spaced sites, poor overall maintenance of the grounds. Hookups fairly easy. Wifi non-existent. Amenities looked like they hadn't been used or cared-for in decades. We were here to visit the Caverns (closed) and Guadalupe Mountains (open). The town of Carlsbad itself is an oil field town; dusty and blue-collar hard working folks. The CG could and should do a better job to deserve it's label.

We had to cancel our trip due to the government shutdown of the caves. The lady on the phone was extremely pleasant to work with. I stayed here twice as a kid with my family and have some of the best memories from those trips. We wanted to bring our kids and create new memories. Sorry, we weren't able to make it, thank you for understanding and being helpful. We will definitely reschedule our trip at some point hopefully in the near future.

I recently stayed 3 nights at your campground. We were warned of the calcium rich water - not to drink it (which we didn’t) but that it was alright to bath. Only 3 nights completely covered our shower doors in soap scum and mineral buildup. Worse than that - I have had a scalp infection flare up that is the most severe of my life. I’m was just n significant pain and had to cut our trip short to get home to a doctor. I find it irresponsible that they are not treating the water supply to the campground in a better way. In my opinion your water is basically not safe for use. Your campground was great and your people and service were outstanding. We loved the place - but I will never come back and feel as though I should post reviews warning people of this significant health risk. I sent this feedback to the campground staff with no response at all.

We are doing some other work in and around the park, the place has really nice open spaces, and really nice staff. I've never stayed there so I couldn't say one way or another, but I do try to do reviews on Google whenever they ask. Since I have both a 42 foot motor coach and a 42 ft fifth wheel, I will say that it's the kind of place you can get a big rig in! Being right close to Carlsbad it is kind of like being in hell on Earth. Not a heck of a lot of shade, but the relatively new lots have trees and I assume they're going to try to keep watering them and get them grown. Again nice people and hey it's a KOA so it's got to be good! Not only that it's a KOA Holiday which I seem to recall gives some extra indications of quality. But I must ask who in the hell would take a holiday in Carlsbad? It is hard enough to have to work here!! Here being Carlsbad and not the Carlsbad KOA. Again the folks there same friendly and helpful. If you got to stay somewhere around here this would be a decent place I do believe. Okay one last thing in the snapshot, Google, are you listening? Fix your interface, this isn't a hotel!!

The staff was friendly and very helpful. Check in was a breeze. The pull through site are large and easy to get in and out of. Yes the pool is not working however they were actively working on the pool and had new pool equipment to install. So hopefully in the near future the pool will be working. The park is very clean and quiet. Just a heads up it really gets windy. One of your must do things is to visit Sitting Bull Falls. The falls are an easy drive from the KOA.
