Cathedral Gorge State Park in Panaca, NV

A very interesting natural park with slot canyons and beautiful vistas of eroded stone formations. I spent about 2 hours exploring the slot canyons and taking photos of the surrounding views/birds.

Lots more to do but I was short on time. Park rangers were helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking around 1pm on a weekday.

I’d come again if I were in the area to do more hiking/exploring on the trails in the northern part of the park. Also one of the cheaper state parks I’ve visited before at $10 USD for the day.

Great small state park with very unique geological formations. Easy to explore and spend 1hr to 2 days.

Do NOT drive past Moon Canyon to get straight to Cathedral Canyon. Moon has much larger and longer slots than Cathedral to explore. Do the 4 mile hike that goes from Cathedral to Miller Point to Juniper. If you can’t hike 4 miles, drive to Miller Overlook and take the stairs down - it’s is really beautiful. Also Miller Point is a great place to watch the sunset and have a picnic. Amazing pit toilets too! Best we have ever experienced.

If you’re in this area, don’t overlook Echo Canyon, Spring Valley (best camping sites!) and Kershaw-Ryan State Parks! Hot Tea Pot Arch in Panaca too. Lovely add-ons to round out the day / weekend. I would have loved to do the loop hikes at kershaw but we didn’t leave enough time. Don’t make our mistake!

Great way to get out of town! Crazy rock formation makes you think your in a sci fi movie on another planet, narrow slot canyon maze! Great place to spend part of the day! Close camping and picnic tables!

Great state park! Immaculate campground hosts November 12th to the 16th, 2025. Restrooms perfect, shower rooms are spotless and huge. The slot canyons and geography are amazing!!

Easy to access location. The campground was very clean and neat. The main bathroom was closed for repairs, so it was a bit of a walk to get to the one that had the showers. The showers were nice and hot, 5 minutes for $0.25. It was nice to be able to explore the slots in the rocks formations freely.

Beautiful small state park. Good road to drive with very little Traffic. From Vegas to this state park there are 3 gas stations along the way but bring food and lunch and picnic. Limited facility.

A unique gorge area that has some impressive rock formations. The is also a couple of interesting rock structures including a water tower built almost a hundred years ago by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

We stayed at Site 17, and it was the perfect spot to relax and take in the surroundings. The highlight of our visit was definitely exploring the slot canyons—they’re absolutely stunning and such a fun adventure!

We specifically drove 4 hours to Lincoln County for this state park. I'd say it was worth it. This was unlike anything I've ever seen and it was so unique. There was something new at every twist and turn. The slot canyons were way fun to explore. There's so much desert wildlife to enjoy as well! We stopped at the visitor center and the man working the desk was very kind and helpful.

It's an amazing hidden treasure. There is a 4 mile hike hoop at the end of the drive to enjoy. On the way, there are a few areas to stop and enjoy these formations and narrow paths. It's such a beautiful site to see and enjoy.

If your up this way it's really neat to stop by for a bit. We enjoyed climbing around and found some neat little caves. I wouldn't drive 2 hours out of Vegas to go here . We were in the area.

This is a beautiful state park.  We tented there last week and found the campground sites large and clean.  The bathrooms were ok.  I should give this park a 5 star but there was a large group camped near the bathrooms letting several dogs run loose. Dodging their piles was challenging and their use of a drone was distracting and just plain rude.  Overall, it was a nice place to stay.
