Absolutely stunning campground. We had a waterfront site, and it was gorgeous. But honestly, we walked around the whole campground, and didn’t see any bad sites. The bathrooms are updated and very clean. The views are unbeatable. And the bugs were minimal. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

Pros: - Big sites - The campground was quiet and peaceful - The staff were nice - The water in the lake is shallow so it was warm. Lots of people were swimming at the beach - The bathroom building has 6 exterior doors and each leads to a private, individual bathroom room with a toilet, shower, and sink. - The rec room is big and well organized with games and puzzles (see photos) - We often heard loons and we saw an eagle, plus cute chipmunks and red squirrels Cons: - The “cathedral pines” don’t have lower branches so you can easily see through each site. You can see and hear your neighbors. - So. Many. Spiders. There were daddy long legs EVERYWHERE. All over our site, in the firewood, crawling on our tent, crawling on our feet. They were the worst in the bathrooms. The bathroom doors and door frames were covered in big spiders and they were crawling in the walls, ceiling, and windows. We asked around and were told that they are normally much worse, hundreds more spiders, especially later in the summer. I’ve never run into this before. If you are one of the unlucky people who are scared of spiders, this might not be the campground for you. - The pricing was odd. We were two couples and we don’t have a 4-person tent, we have two 2-person tents. Because we had 2 tents on our site, we had to pay double. We ended up paying almost $120 per night. I think if we had all fit in 1 tent or 1 RV we would’ve paid about $60 per night. The staff said this is to prevent loud groups. We probably won’t come back because of the cost, it’s only $20 per night at state parks!

Clean, quiet, and picturesque. This is a campground perfect for relaxing with family. The sites are spread out for privacy. Quite a few sites have beautiful views of the lake & mountains. There’s also tons of hiking trails in the area- some easy for family and some for the experienced hiker. The campground is paved, perfect for bikes and scooters. There’s a playground and rec hall. Plenty of very nice bathroom facilities… the nicest I’ve seen for a campground. The place is pet friendly, but we never saw any out of control or loud dogs. The campground and sites are very clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful! This campground embodies Maine’s motto: “vacationland”.

This campground is a magical place nestled in among Norwegian red pines. At night there are a million stars and you can hear the loons on the lake. The bathrooms are modern and the sites lovely. I went kayaking and saw a family of otters and many blue heron. If you have a family, there are lots of kids swimming and riding their bikes around. Last but not least, the service is outstanding. As someone who has traveled extensively, I will say the people who run this campground should be teaching a master class in hospitality.

It is a very nice campground, located directly at the lake and very quiet. Bathrooms were clean. You can hire canoes and kayaks to explore the lake. There are nice play areas for children, ideal for families.

Very quiet location. Went a few years ago. The sites are level for those with a Camper or RV. There are many options available. There is a beach that is very nice, there are others not camping that have access to if for a small fee. So, this is a great place to camp or just do a day trip and picnic. I plan to do a camping trip this year for 3 days. My parents used to camp with their RV at least once per year. They loved it as well.

Beautiful campground. Unfortunately not very dog friendly. Cannot have dog at the beach. Even where they are allowed to go in water, they have to be on the leash which is not really swimming. I understand not wanting dogs running around everywhere. But a few well behaved dogs swimming for a half hour after the regular beach hours are done doesn’t seem like it would be detrimental to anyone’s camping experience and would allow them to have some fun and get exercise. Beautiful place but not really great for active dogs that like to swim on vacation

Cathedral Pines Camp Ground is one of our favorites. If possible we stay twice a season. The sites are big and clean, and the staff is great but there something more. The atmosphere under the Pines, the history of Flagstaff lake is unique. We go for the remote relaxing nature of the area.

Not a hotel and no cabins. All beautiful and spacious camp sites along Flagstaff lake. Come sites right on the water and some in and among the amazing pines. Well kept and manicured grounds. Modern bathrooms cleaned daily and monitored throughout the day. They have beautifully paved roads through the whole campground. Lots of things to do and travel too around them. Great places to explore nature. Lots of beautiful wild life.

To me, there is no better campground in the state. Our family loves it here so much. The sites are very large, well kept, and clean. The bathrooms are incredibly clean and taken care of daily. There is easy access to a dumpster no matter where your site is and they are emptied fairly regularly. The area to sink your tank is spacious and well designed. The views are amazing. The staff are friendly. I love the covered space they offer before the office. The playground is excellent entertainment for our children and the rec room is also very popular. On our recent trip, we were able to rent a canoe for half a day which was fun and affordable! My one issue is the booking process. I'm not able to come stand in line for booking in October and by the time I'm able to get through on email/phone, the availability of most sites is limited or non-existent. However, that isn't enough to stop me from trying to book every year! Thank you Cathedral Pines for creating a community that is so welcoming and nostalgic and safe.
