Beautiful state park on the shore of a reservoir. Peaceful and scenic, with access to watersport rental and others amenities. Hike, bike, or just watch the deer/elk stroll by your campsite. Super clean & spacious RV sites with full hookups, as well as tent pads on some, plus tent & group camping areas. We enjoyed just hanging out at the site watching boats on the lake. Check out the sunset views!

Very good park for boating, fishing, water sports, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, hiking and walking. Nice trails, decent camping selection if you book early, lotsa parking. Has a boat ramp and marina with a cafe. Nice smaller lakes in the park area as well. Great way to escape if you love being on or near the water. Crazy busy on weekends during prime season. Winds can kick up the water fairly quick so be smart and safe! Wear a life jacket if on a board or kayak, this lake takes down several people a year that don’t prepare accordingly. In all a beautiful place.

Love it!! Was the best state park we’ve ever been too. The camping sites were great, it’s very busy so we had to move sites a couple times to stay longer but was worth it. The dog park was unlike any other dog park trail we’ve ever been to, our dogs loved it as much as we did!

About 12 Miles around lake. Lots of paved and unpaved trails. Handicap access to Beach and picnic areas. Very popular with cyclists and birdwatchers. 2 boat ramps and two entrances. South entrance is usually very quiet.

Chatfield State Park is close to the city but far enough away to enjoy nature without a big commitment. absolutely beautiful and one of those places that makes you appreciate Colorado’s outdoor spaces. The views of the water with the mountains in the background are peaceful, and it’s a great spot for walking, cycling, relaxing, or just getting some fresh air. Also, be prepared parking fills up fast. On nice days, especially weekends, the lots are almost always full unless you get there early. It can turn into a bit of a hassle if you’re not planning ahead. Overall, it’s a great place to spend time outdoors, just go early !

Very good park for boating, fishing, water sports, kayaking, paddleboarding, camping, hiking and walking. Can get very crowded in the summer season. Nice trails, decent camping selection if you book early, lotsa parking. Has a boat ramp and marina. Nice smaller lakes in the park area as well.

A beautiful place to have a picnic or walk around the lake. I went with my family — mountains on one side and the lake on the other. There’s plenty of parking, and you only pay per car. You can bike or walk around and enjoy the scenery.

omg i love this place, everyone here is just so awesome and friendly. from campers, to park host, and as well as the rangers. everyone just waves and smiles at you and just sparks up a conversation. our car broke down and a park host saw our hood up and stopped to see if we were okay and if we needed anything, and he was nice enough to do run arounds for us in getting info on what we can do. then we met a park ranger name sweeney and he was very very patient understanding and accommodating always checked up on us if we were okay and was not an a hole like most rangers. then we met another worker from hawaii he was great n offered to help look at our car amd offered services . scene here is BEAUTIFUL!!! I just love the hospitality here

Amazing park with many lakes that can be used for paddleboarding, fishing, or swimming. The large main resivoir you can also use powered boats. The resivoir has flooded recently leading to a number of cottonwoods sticking out of the water. They have sense died, giving way to very unique scenery. There is much wildlife to enjoy in the park, and camping is available in multiple lot types.

I love going to this State Park. It seems to be a place that many other come to and enjoy. There is a nice beach to hang out at and take a swim, there seems to be a nice camp site, that I hope to experience in the near future. There seems to be areas to rent canoes and paddle boats. There also seems to be a lot of boats that Cruze around the lake as well. I have had a lot of fun each time that I've visited Chatfield State Park.

June 6-8 2025 Really beautiful, green and lush right now. We stayed in handicap spot 148 in loop C. Nice cement pad and electrical available. No water on this site. Only bummer was the closest restroom to handicap spot was closed so a bit of a walk to next available restroom which can be difficult for someone with limited mobility. The sites are spacious and well maintained. Bathrooms are clean and they have showers that work but need more space for a bench or more hooks to keep dry clothes. The swim beach is nice and very busy. Go early to get parking and a space for your stuff. The view is gorgeous. They have a ramp that goes right into the water and allows for wheelchair access or access for people with limited mobility (like me) to get into the water and enjoy the fun instead of sitting on the sidelines! Best feature ever! There was a group of partiers near our site, which is fine, but they kept it up very loudly til after 3 am which made it hard to sleep. I think they need to enforce quiet hours better. All in all this is a nice campground and I would visit again.

During our trip to Colorado, we were lucky to snag a weekend campsite from a last-minute cancellation. The area is popular with cyclists riding along the lake and attracts many families and group events. Compared to Cherry Creek, which is closer to the city, the campsites here are more tightly spaced, and the bathrooms and showers could be better maintained. Still, it's a great spot to enjoy a campfire and feel the warmth of human presence. You might even spot some wildlife, like rabbits or deer families.

Had my birthday camping party here at the group campground. I was allowed 6 vehicles and 32 people. It has 4 separate electrical posts to plug in to. Showers and bathrooms are close by and very clean. I brought my own DJ with a sound system and lighting, and all the campers nearby enjoyed it as well. The youngsters came over asking to join the dance party, and we were never once bothered by park police. We did ask the neighbors if it was too loud and no one complained. They actually came over and had fun, too. Took the 17ft canoe and 5 kayaks out on the water for fishing and exercise, and the no wake area was like glass, so smooth. Will definitely be doing this a lot more all summer long. Hope to see everyone out there and if you see us, please feel free to stop by and enjoy the fun. Thankful for the electricity to only watch the Avalanche loose for a second season to the Dallas Stars, should have kept Mikko...

Notes: if you follow the AllTrails map, you will be walking in the bike lane on Perimeter Road for a bit. Closure reports on site are not accurate. Sections up until King Fischer are still closed. Bathrooms, tables, and water refill spots available multiple times throughout trail. No shade so pack accordingly. Nice and even road.
