We stayed at Chewacla State Park for 4 nights and had a great experience. The cabin was clean, spacious, and featured a nice rustic wood design. We also really enjoyed the excellent view of the lake right from our cabin. The park offers a nice natural setting while remaining close enough to town for anything you need. We also noticed it was at least 10 degrees cooler at the park than in the city of Auburn. Fishing was very accessible as well, with only a short walk from the cabin to the water. Please note that if you bring dogs, there is an additional fee of $30 per dog, per night. Also, be aware that the park gate closes for the overnight hours.

Chewacla State Park is one of the most beautiful places to visit near Auburn. The park is clean, peaceful, and very well maintained. The hiking trails are enjoyable, the lake is beautiful, and the waterfalls are a must-see. It’s a perfect place for a picnic, a family outing, or simply relaxing in nature. The staff are friendly, and the overall atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone looking to spend a refreshing day outdoors!

I reserved a primitive camping spot for 2 nights thinking I could get some peace and quiet. I’ve always loved camping. I knew that it would not be perfect. But the spot I reserved was in the middle of a huge washout. So the guy who checked me in moved me to another location. But the entire area was washed out and had debris everywhere. I was only there a few hours before more people were coming in. At this point it was time to bed down for the night. A short time later 3 college age kids across from me started drinking and being loud. That bothered me. But I had hoped that they would calm down after a while and it would get quiet again. But then the couple in the tent 20 feet from me began sound like they were filming a porn. At this point I had no choice but to pack up and leave. No one was at the gate house. I tried reaching out to the park and couldn’t get an answer. I filled out the survey and it says someone would contact me. No one has responded. 80 something dollars down the drain. I will never forget this. Nor will I ever again visit this park.

Great park with walking and hiking trails, swimming areas, cabins, etc. Guides were super helpful and kind. We only went for a day trip and walked an easy 20 minutes (with a 4 and 5 year old) to the falls. There is also a nice all inclusive playground with bathrooms at the start of the trail. Overall was a great experience.

We were in site #13. It was a good site but the road coming in to our loop was very tight. Our 5th-wheel is 42ft and we dropped of the pavement a couple of times and it was a little steep. Now the other loop would have been better if we would have known. So... if you have a larger rig like ours take the other loop. Sorry I do not remember those numbers but you can look it up and find them, using ours as a starting point. Very nice park with LOTS of trails for bikes and hikes! Definitely would recommend 👌 👍 🎯

We stayed a couple nights in our RV. The sites are ample, level and have all utilities including wifi that's strong enough for our TVs to work which hasn't been the case for us often. The restrooms are old and dinky but the hot water is great. The walking trails are great. The place is clean, interesting and not too challenging to walk on. If you want a strenuous workout, there are uphills you can scamper on that will challenge most people. While it's convenient to be close to Auburn, unfortunately, the city has grown to where the park is noisy with traffic and construction near by. We've stayed at other Alabama State Parks and this one is the smallest and the one that needs most upgrading so the price doesn't compare with others for what you get. All in all, if we lived nearby we would be visiting non the less. The ranger was very nice and informative. Thanks for hosting us.

My kids and I absolutely love this park. We have come nearly every year for a few days. We tent camp in the primitive sites, but have access to showers and bathrooms nearby if needed. The hiking trails are great for mountain biking and there are a few sets of terrain and jumps that are available for more advanced riders.

Our campsite was clean and the driveway was flat. We parked next to the amp service and slept wonderfully. Bathrooms and showers were clean. The park provides so many recreational options in close proximity to the town. Jim n Nick's bbq hit the spot!

Had a wonderful time at the state park. Wish we had more days to explore all the trails. Really close to Auburn so you can still go out to eat at one of the many restaurants and yet secluded enough for you to find peace from the hustle and bustle.

Chewacla State Park in Auburn, Alabama, is a scenic getaway offering hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and camping. The 26-acre lake is great for swimming and kayaking, and the waterfalls add natural beauty to the trails. It’s clean, family-friendly, and ideal for both day trips and weekend camping. The trails range from easy to challenging, especially popular with bikers. A peaceful escape with well-maintained facilities.

Very nice staff! Lots of yellow jackets all.over the campground. They were swarming all over our sites during the day. The staff has been working on locating their nests throughout the park, but there are a lot of them right now. The bathrooms could be cleaner. There are many trails through the park and a small lake. The spots are private with many trees.

So beautiful, came out when it hasn't rained a bit, first week of cool weather. Beautiful hiking trails. They're currently working on a structure by the waterfall trail, but you can enjoy a longer hike and still get to the falls. We liked down from the falls through the rocks and had a blast. Epic playground.

We stopped here to picnic on our way to Helen,GA. The bathrooms were immaculate, the lake beautiful and the picnic area clean and welll kept. We are not hikers (3 old ladies), so have no comment on trails. We were disappointed that the road was closed to get all the way around the lake, but the drive we did do was lovely through the woods and over an old bridge. A delightful couple hours respite.

Great place to come with your family for some great trails and sights. There are cabins and campgrounds available. We did not spend the night here, but we intended to sometime. It costs $4/person, but you can spend the day there enjoying this park. My wife and I look forward to coming back here again.
