It’s just an odd and interesting place. Chicken Gold Camp is a gem in the middle of nowhere. If you happen to be in the area, a for sure stop.

First off, you aren't in Chicken unless you want to be in Chicken. Hours of dirt roads to get here, so location is 5 stars... As you have reached your destination! We rented a medium cabin and it is a dry cabin, no plumbing. We had a king bed and a twin bed and a propane heater. That's it! But it is a good price at $60. Definitely, the least expensive place you will find anywhere in pricey Alaska. Internet WiFi is Starlinkz but its hokey to login and your limited to 1 mb speed which means you can just get your email and send some texts and when I closed my browser it closed the connection and would take the fancy individual code again. Its just hokey. Really, just expect no WiFi... And of course there is absolutely no cell service there either. No lights in the cabins, so bring a flashlight. Staff was okay and friendly. Showers are in a separate building and cost a ridiculous $1 per minute, this is likely due to the whole place being off grid and heating water takes a lot of power. Like I said, take it as it is, it will be good. Best northern light views we have ever seen.

So i know I didn't write the previously posted review, I love love love Chicken Gold Camp. It's my Favorite place,a nice far from society's hustles, the family that owns and runs is amazing.Their gift shop has things you won't find anywhere else, the foods they make in the restaurant are delicious and made to order! They have a great gold Dredge tour on site and fun gold panning. A great place to just Breathe in Alaskan skies and rest...

Rough road leading to a very pleasant surprise: 2025 "Chickenfest"! We did not have tickets, so I did not stay, but it was shaping up to be a good time for those that did.

Pulled in for a night’s sleep. Pit toilets, coin-operated showers, plenty of room for my campsite. The tent sites are not tucked in to trees; they are exposed. If all you need is a bit of sleep, it’s perfect. If you are looking for a scenic, cozy place to hang out for a few days, not so much.
