Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost is a family-owned and operated business located in the heart of the historic Chicken, Alaska. The camp is situated on the banks of the Forty Mile River, and is surrounded by the majestic Alaska Range. The camp offers a variety of services, including lodging, RV camping, gold panning, and a general store. The camp is also home to the world-famous Chicken Gold Dredge, which is the only operating gold dredge in Alaska. The camp is a great place to explore the history of the area, as well as to experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness.

Pulled in for a night’s sleep. Pit toilets, coin-operated showers, plenty of room for my campsite. The tent sites are not tucked in to trees; they are exposed. If all you need is a bit of sleep, it’s perfect. If you are looking for a scenic, cozy place to hang out for a few days, not so much.

We had a great time in the camp last year. The problem is that all the services are very restricted. When you arrive you find out that they ask you not to empty the tanks or fill up the water unless strictly necessary as its a remote location. Its understandable but should be advertised more clearly while booking trough the website. Then the wifi pass means its 100mb use, which will last 5minutes, and also is not advertised (or not very clearly). And then for the shower you have to pay, so at the end we didnt get the services that we expected. Other than that The gold panning experience was a lot of fun, the man in charge gave us a really good explanation on how to do it and he was so nice to us that was enough to overcome the inconveniences.

Perfect place to camp if you visit the Top of the world highway. We drycamped here without electricity or water. It's more of a big parking lot, but you have your own space and picknick table. During our stay a lot of gold miners were staying here. Bit loudly sometimes but okay. If you want, and there are enough participants, you can visit the dredge on their site.

A clean and quiet campground. Bathrooms were messy and extremely small. The shower was $1.00 per minute, and the water was warm at best. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location is a goldmine. There is a bar nearby, and the bartender was fantastic. We believe he made the stop worthwhile.

Great people, quirky sights, always a good fun break from town! I enjoy the gifts especially knowing they are locally made NOT FROM CHINA, wonderful coffee, and food.

This place is amazing! The staff is so nice friendly and welcoming you will want to come back time and time again. the food is great as well as the selection in the gift shop you will not find a better pizza night on this side of the world!

Spent six nights here in late August. Worked my butt off, but pulled 4.3 grams of gold. I would come back here in a heartbeat! Friendly folks, great pizzas, and plenty of good advice from staff and other prospectors. Definitely want to come back for Chickenstock!

Great stopover in Chicken! Provided 110 volt power, clean showers and central to most everything in Chicken. Great campground!

I loved the little shops and antique truck. Nice touch! They were not in full swing yet because it was still to early in the year but his stock looked like he was ready for business. Because of the covid being lifted they are excited to receive visitors. We were greeted by the owner standing on the porch of his business wearing his apron. Friendly Service.
