Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost

we are here for an overnight coming out of Dawson City and heading to TOK. We were able to book site 1 with electric. There are few sites with power or you can boondock. The town and people here are very friendly. We did dinner in the outpost and had a delicious Ruben. We had breakfast "in town" at the cafe. the Coffee is delicious and the egg sandwich was great and filling. We bought a cinnamon roll to go. I would stay here again and recommend this spot to all my friends. It is a nice small home feeling place. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

We arrived in Chicken early this season with the intent to mine Meyers fork and ended up staying for 6 weeks at Chicken Gold Camp on a dry camp site. The experience exceeded all expectations. We found a lot of gold, including a 1.1g nugget! We brought our own ATV to go to the claim and back but they will drive you for a fee. Ground is rich. Saw a few first timers who were just panning and were able to get over a gram in a day. Pretty cool stuff. Chicken Gold Camp and the sense of community it provided absolutely enhanced the trip. We made many new friends on the campground. The facilities are well maintained daily and toilet paper/hand sanitizer is provided. Cleanest pit toilets I've ever used. Water is available and tastes really good. Coin operated showers are also very clean and hot. No issues running our generator during non quiet hours when needed. Overall, we have nothing but good memories from our experience at the camp. Can't wait to go back!

Spent 10 days here and had a blast. The apartment was nice. 2 rooms with 2 twin beds ea and a kitchenette. Shower are nice, hot and only $1 per 2 minutes. Which is cheaper than most truck stops. Mike, Lou and the crew were all fantastic and treated us like family. Randy is a big help out on the claim. Digging was a little tough do to a late spring this year and I think we were the first people there this season but even with limited Digging and permafrost we still found about 12 grams of gold, had an amazing time and will definitely be back. Oh and an awesome gift shop with lots of awesome things

Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost is very remote and one of my favorite spots. The terrain is rugged and beautiful. The wife and I spent 4 weeks there with our camper and our boy (Nugget). The folks who work at the camp are very helpful with answering quesitons and providing assistance when needed. The Outpost has a wide variety of gifts and the food is good. My favortie breakfast was a Scone and Coffee before heading out to the claims. Later in the Summer there is Wood Fired Pizza's in the evening, take that with a cold Beer and life is good.

Highly Recommend! Our family have been traveling to Chicken for over 10 years. Chicken Gold Camp is always where we stay. The accommodation are clean and comfy. We usually haul our camper but have also been known to take quick weekend trips & rent one of the cabins they offer. Our grown children have now started bring grandkids also. With 3 generations enjoying all Chicken Gold Camp has to offer no one has ever been bored. It is absolutely beautiful place to unplug & rejuvenating for your soul.

Enjoyed our time’s spent there as Chicken Gold Camp is the real deal there with log cabin rentals, RV spot’s, offsite gold mining opportunities, tours of the bucket line dredge, lots of history, great people, food and stories to be heard. We have always had a great time.

We don’t get to do much in the summer as we to are Alaskan business owners. We make the time to go to chicken gold camp for our get away. Great people, great place and service like no other. You are treated like GOLD there. See you all again soon and I’m planning on digging a couple ounces while I’m there.

Chicken Gold Camp is a magical place for my wife and I. We go up every year for Chickenstock and usually do another fall trip for gold mining, hunting, and fishing. The cabins are nice, outhouses are clean, showers are hot, food is delicious, and beer is cold.

We brought our own camping trailer so no staying in rooms although from looking inside they looked really comfortable. My wife and I spent five summers there mining for gold on the camps claim. We nothing but great memories of being there. The staff there made us feel like family. When we did eat at the Outpost the food was great. I would recommend anyone who wants to have an Alaskan adventure Chicken Gold Camp and Outpost is the place to go.

It’s just an odd and interesting place. Chicken Gold Camp is a gem in the middle of nowhere. If you happen to be in the area, a for sure stop.

First off, you aren't in Chicken unless you want to be in Chicken. Hours of dirt roads to get here, so location is 5 stars... As you have reached your destination! We rented a medium cabin and it is a dry cabin, no plumbing. We had a king bed and a twin bed and a propane heater. That's it! But it is a good price at $60. Definitely, the least expensive place you will find anywhere in pricey Alaska. Internet WiFi is Starlinkz but its hokey to login and your limited to 1 mb speed which means you can just get your email and send some texts and when I closed my browser it closed the connection and would take the fancy individual code again. Its just hokey. Really, just expect no WiFi... And of course there is absolutely no cell service there either. No lights in the cabins, so bring a flashlight. Staff was okay and friendly. Showers are in a separate building and cost a ridiculous $1 per minute, this is likely due to the whole place being off grid and heating water takes a lot of power. Like I said, take it as it is, it will be good. Best northern light views we have ever seen.

So i know I didn't write the previously posted review, I love love love Chicken Gold Camp. It's my Favorite place,a nice far from society's hustles, the family that owns and runs is amazing.Their gift shop has things you won't find anywhere else, the foods they make in the restaurant are delicious and made to order! They have a great gold Dredge tour on site and fun gold panning. A great place to just Breathe in Alaskan skies and rest...

Rough road leading to a very pleasant surprise: 2025 "Chickenfest"! We did not have tickets, so I did not stay, but it was shaping up to be a good time for those that did.

Pulled in for a night’s sleep. Pit toilets, coin-operated showers, plenty of room for my campsite. The tent sites are not tucked in to trees; they are exposed. If all you need is a bit of sleep, it’s perfect. If you are looking for a scenic, cozy place to hang out for a few days, not so much.
