Beautiful campground, we really loved our site! Quiet for being so big. We enjoyed our stay, the lake being a short walk away was a huge plus. It’s gorgeous! We will come back if we pull our camper up here again. The only reason I can’t give it a 5 is for the bathrooms. As mentioned, they are filthy. We don’t have a toilet in our camper, so we fully rely on the facilities campgrounds provide. I’m not sure these ones have seen any sort of cleaning product in a long while. I know, we are camping and a little roughing it is good for the soul and all, but I advise you to triple check your shower shoes are packed if you plan on using their showers. However, being as dirty as they were, I got a nice hot shower! Can’t complain too terribly much about a hot, free shower. Just be aware!

The area is beautiful and camp sites are very nice. They seem to have two sites close together and then generous space. So, bring a friend or be ready to make a friend next door. The bathrooms are generally clean, but the main reason I couldn't give five stars. The floor needs painting and whoever painted the walls really didn't care at all about what they were doing. (See photos) I would go back. The shore is sandy and shallow for a long ways out. However, it is prone to swimmers itch in warmer months. I came here water skiing when I was younger several times and I never remember having any issues, but they have warnings posted. The water doesn't seem to get to rough for a bigger lake. Good for water sports and paddling.

This was our second stay at this National Forest campground, though our first time leaving a review. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The Chippewa Loop at Norway Beach offers quiet, secluded sites with easy access to Cass Lake—perfect for paddling, fishing, or simply soaking in the natural beauty. The peaceful atmosphere and wooded setting are hard to beat. That said, the shower house could use some serious attention. While functional, the cinder-block structure is dated, and the hot water tends to run out quickly—resulting in some bracingly cold showers. A few simple, low-cost improvements like solar water heaters, radiant heat, or better insulation could make a big difference in comfort. Despite that, the serenity and lake access keep this campground high on our list. With a few facility upgrades, it has the potential to be a true 5-star destination.

We have been coming here as a family off and on for 20ish years. We stayed in the 100's electric loop. We definitely felt intimidated and uneasy with what the lower loop of 112-124 looked like. Some territorial things going on down at the beach. Seems as if some of these first come first served campsites down by the water may be occupied longer than the 14 days. Still a very beautiful campground, but order seems to be lost.

A week ago we camped with friends for a couple of days. Very disappointed in the maintenance and non upkeep in the park. We camped for many years in Chippewa Loop and loved the campgrounds. We had a 5 year break and it is noticeably run down. No hot water, shower house very dirty. The park is so beautiful and needs to continue to keep up the basics to draw visitors and campers!

This a nice wooded campground on the shore of Cass Lake. It is well suited trailers and pop ups. Poison Ivy grows unchecked in the undergrowth and in campsites. The boat launch provides quick and easy access to Cass Lake and public access on other nearby lakes. The gender specific bathrooms and showers are stocked regularly but seldom cleaned. No fish cleaning facility is provided. Cass Lake is a few miles away and a source for your camping and fishing needs.

Beware. NO DUMP STATION for RV's. The host told me that it's been out of service for 8 years. Chippewa loop is nice for those wanting electric, 30 amp only. Nice paved bike or hike path. All sites in this loop are roomy double with small shrub or tree separation between.

Beautiful beach but poison ivy everywhere.

No reviews in over two years, that's strange. Priced right, easy to find, no bugs. 30A site worked great. I stayed at site 100. Sites are close together, no privacy. Independence Day weekend 2021, the Chippewa Loop shower / bathroom facility was out of order. Needed to drive to other loops for bathroom / showers. There is no dump station, no water fill at the Norway Beach Recreation area despite of what other reviews / information says, so that sucked. Entire location looks like it is 10+ years behind in maintenance and updates.

We just went for a picnic with the two grandkids the water was cooled or weather was hot and the water was clean and clear. Beautiful Sandy Beach both directions. And the top it off we were the only ones there. All around a great day

Great place to go camping or just take a walk in the woods

The campsite itself was great! Lots of trees, which we like. A few things we didn't care for: 1. There were no rangers or park staff anywhere. We went on a weekend that the office was closed...but we ended up buying wood in Bemidji because there were no signs directing us where to buy wood in the campground. We ended up seeing it the next day on a bike ride when we rode by the campground host's spot. 2. We didn't see any signs on where to fill our camper up with water. Thankfully we filled at our house before we left, or that could have been a bid headache. 3. The bathrooms were nasty. My husband isn't picky, but they even grossed him out. We even opted to rinse off in the lake rather than use the showers. 4. Our neighbors were recreational marijauna smokers and they didn't follow quiet time rules...neither of which we appreciated...glad we didn't have kids with us, but it would still would have been nice to have park rangers or something to enforce rules so everyone can have an enjoyable weekend. Overall, I would probably go back to Chippewa Loop if there were no other campground openings elsewhere and I really wanted to camp. But the state parks I've been to, and even the Leech Lake Recreation Area were much more maintained.
