Bonito Campground: Flagstaff, AZ RV Guide

The two nights I stayed here, I encountered unaccompanied (loud) visitors arriving at the dead of night and departing at the crack of dawn. Nevertheless, the campground hosts maintained a clean environment. I only had brief interactions with them, but they were polite and courteous.

There’s a well-maintained trail right behind the campground that seems to have access to the monument. The campground is conveniently located right next to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. However, there’s no AT&T cell reception here. There are no showers or hookups, but they do have flush toilets.

Most of the sites are partially shaded; however, this is not in a thick pine forest. Stargazing is very good here though at night.

We loved this campground. We were in site 13 which was close to the shower house. I don't think you could chose a bad site. All sites are hard surface and have a fire pit and enough trees to remind you that you are in the forest. Nice loop to walk with dogs or kids.  Easy in and out after making our reservations via reservations.gov.

It is very very dusty. Closed two shoes are a must. While you can bring a dog I won't in summer has even the dog friendly trails are to hot for them to hike on. There is a great scenic drive though and it was fun! Camp fires where allowed when I went. most of the good hike are short enough for one person to stay in the car and the other the hike too it. The sights aren't graded so be prepared for that. Over all though average camp sight.

Some of the campsites are huge, the one I stayed at included. I set up my tent roughly 50' from my car and felt secluded. Campground hosts are awesome. They're on top of everything. Bathrooms and grounds are very clean and well-kept.

I shared my site with pinyon jays, Abert squirrels and ravens. Highly recommend. Will be staying here again. Easy access to O'Leary Peak and Lockett meadow.

This is an amazing campground within the national forest system.  It is managed by a third party vendor.   The campground is great.  Looks almost brand new, or recently upgraded sites.  Will stay here again when in the area.

It’s a clean well kept campground. The campground hosts do a wonderful job and are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The bathrooms are updated, modern and clean. There are no showers available though. Generators are allowed.

Andy and CJ, Campground host kept the campground clean and felt safe with them around working hard.  They greet us very friendly and actually greeted every one with great hospitality.  We love staying here a couple of days.  It's so peaceful, quiet, lots of trees, level space and we will definitely come back again.

They told me that I could do dishes at the cleaning station, then a gentleman proceeded to tell me in a rude manor to read the rules. And you  can NOT do dishes there. So hopefully you are prepared, they have potable water just not allowed to fill to many containers for your camp ground. The land was perfect for small game hunting.

By far one of the cleanest, quietest and most peaceful campgrounds we have experienced. The bathrooms were clean and smelt good. The camp site was extremely spacious. Camp hosts were very friendly and very helpful. Only downside was we had to leave and get back to reality.

A very lovely and quite campground operated by the National Forest organisation. We booked our site in advance just to be on the safe side. Some sites are available only on a first-come-first-safe basis. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed it. Nestled in a forest with mature trees .... and cooler temperatures during the night.

Great campground, managed by very nice people

We enjoy this campground, we have a 32 ft RV. There's no hook- ups or dump station but the environment is clean and family oriented with lots of pine trees, asphalt pads and roads. Most of the time quiet hours are enforced and most of the visitors are friendly with a wave. Fee is $26 per night. There's no phone service so that's a negative or a plus depending on your view of things.

A beautiful campground in a gorgeous area. The washrooms are very clean & have flush toilets and sinks for hand-washing, plus each includes a handicap-accessible stall. They sell ice and firewood on-site. The campground itself is in pine forest with volcanic sand/gravel. Some sites have a fully paved concrete area for the table & fire pit, and others are fully gravel/sand. There's a lovely amphitheater down a very accessible path, too.

Fantastic campsite just north of Flagstaff. The host was kind and helpful, the local scenery was wonderful, and my stay was peaceful and rejuvenating. I took a few after-dark pictures to try to capture some of the moderately dark-sky ambiance. Would love to come back.
