Location & Surroundings

Situated in the community of Cedar Point, the park sits at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound. The landscape is defined by salt marshes and lush hardwood forests typical of the coastal plain. Its strategic location places visitors just minutes from the historic charm of Swansboro and the sandy shores of the Crystal Coast, offering a perfect balance of secluded forest camping and easy coastal access.

Amenities & Park Features

Visitors have access to modern bathhouses equipped with hot showers and flush toilets, ensuring a comfortable stay. The facility also includes a double-lane boat ramp, a dedicated fishing pier, and several loops of well-spaced campsites that provide a sense of privacy amidst the towering loblolly pines.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Tideland National Recreation Trail, which winds through the marshes adjacent to the campground and is perfect for hiking. A short drive across the bridge leads to the beaches of Emerald Isle, where visitors can enjoy sunbathing and surfing. The nearby town of Swansboro offers local boutiques and waterfront dining, while the surrounding forest provides endless opportunities for kayaking and coastal photography.

Very pretty state park. Nice, spacious rv sites with Electric (only) with nearby water. Also popular even in November. Takes reservations, but terrible access if you need to speak with a person. Bathroom/showers need serious attention.

Great location. Bath house is clean. There is a dump station and near the dump station is a potable water hook up to fill your water tank. Sites do not have water hook ups.

Campgrounds were clean and very nice. We even had a small hickup of locking ourselves out of the vehicle, and the hosts were very nice in helping us call a locksmith early in the morning.

Great place to tent camp and rv camping. The host and cohost are taking great care of the grounds. The host leave the campers to themselves unless something is wrong or you need them. There is a boat launch one minute from the campground. No full hookup however there is a dump station and pottable water available. There are showers and bathrooms in the campground.

The camp sites are very nice but that the best thing I can say. Before hand I knew sites didn't have water, but by the map I found there was a water supply right by my site. We got all set up and went to fill my tank, but the water spigot is not designed to connect a common hose to. SO NO WATER for the weekend. After walking the camp ground the sites in the back do have spigots you can connect a hose to in various locations. And there is one at the dump station area. Now for the bath house. My daughter saw a rat run into a hole behind the middle stall. Also if you like to have warm water or even control the water temp, these showers do not have this option. You have to press a button and you get what you get. Plus this bath house was not keep very clean. Two weeks before our stay I tried to get ahold of staff to ask some question. If they would have answered their phone maybe I would have known about the water hook up options. There is a camper there marked "Camp Hoist" but never saw them or any staff the stay. We ended up leaving a day early. After this being a 6 hour drive to get there, I probably will not be back.
