We reserved a space to camp at this campground and were very pleased with our stay. The site was very clean with a level small gravel pad that can accommodate multiple tents. Each area had a large picnic bench to utilize as well as a very functional fire pit that comes equipped with a grate that you can use for cooking. Trash and bathrooms were easily accessible. The main bathroom area has showers and the area was very clean. I would highly recommend staying here.

I love Koomer Ridge. Always quiet and shaded spots for camping. Made for tent camping, but many pull campers and set up. Fortunately, I've never experienced a generator. Camp hosts are always friendly and have ice and wood.

Awesome campground. The gravel beds are a little rough/uncomfy for tent camping. The bathhouse was super clean and within quick walking distance of campsites.

Spacious, wooded campsites with a pretty decent bathhouse. BUT--bring your own water. It's a total crapshoot as to whether there will be potable water available at the spickets scattered throughout the campsite. We camped Memorial Day weekend, and the water came out yellow, no matter how long we let it run. We stopped by last weekend (Labor Day) and checked the water before committing to a campsite: nothing came out. The water was shut off. Glad we checked before paying for a campsite. (Found a great site at Land of the Arches instead.)

Only mentioning because a few negative reviews mention the bathhouse. . .called ahead to make sure bathhouse was open. Forest service called back and assured they were. Clean and in nice condition. I stayed in the middle of the week. The campsite was quiet and peaceful. campsite was nice and the campgrounds were located in close proximity to areas of interest. I am very happy that I stayed at Koomer Ridge.

Very quiet, nice place. Great tent camping spits. Very private and close to all Red River Gorge activities.

Love Koomer Ridge. Stayed here every time I visit RRG. Campsites are mostly walk-in availability, and I've never had a problem finding one. Nice and flat with small gravel, outhouses are pretty average and spread out well. Beautiful location and always decently quiet, plenty of space and privacy between sites. Close to all sorts of trails, and being up on the ridge I'm not worried about flooding like I would be at some of the other local campgrounds.

I regret staying at this campground. Their shower and bath house was closed and there wasn’t any potable water available either but the price to stay there was still $31. I would’ve done back country camping if I had known that. Tent pads were all crushed gravel. My opinion it is not worth $30 a night. They should’ve given discount with all the amenities that were unavailable. One note is that the vault toilet were not disgusting like they usually are.

Reserved spot 4/18-20-25 thinking bathhouses would be open. They are not. Park ranger said probably not until May, laying tile. Also water main burst so only water was by his camper. No mention on website. We love Koomer campground but have been let down last few times

What a beautiful campground in the Daniel Boone NF, they have electric water at some sites primitive sites for backpacking all have a fire ring and picnic tables most sites are even and gravel pads.. vault toilets throughout. During winter showers are closed. Hiking trails are located at the campground also. Sites a large and not to close to each other.

Had a great experience at this nice campground. The showers and bathrooms are nice. Note the showers are CLOSED during the winter which usually means the first week of November to the middle of March usually. Call to check exact dates. The showers do cost extra and take quarters. Bring $5+.

Awesome campground loads of shade depending on your site most of them are pretty private hiking trails right in the campground. The camp sells wood and ice has no electricity at site but does have running water and a shower house that does have power the camp host was awesome very helpful and attentive to the grounds.
