Dauphin Island Campground, AL: A Coastal RV Retreat

Campground is quiet and peaceful. The boardwalk to the beach is a nice touch. The bathrooms were clean and the water was hot. I do wish there was pool

So far it has been pretty good. The staff has been friendly  and helpful. However when we arrived someone else was hooked to our electric and there is dog feces where someone isnt cleaning up after their dog.    It is a nice place other than that though

My family and I absolutely LOVE DI campground! After discovering this place in 2020 it quickly became our go to summer spot. We have vacationed here for the last 6 years, and stayed longer each time we came.  Most of the sites are spacious. The staff has always been incredible. My kids make new friends here every summer at the playground. We enjoy the short walk through the bird sanctuary that leads out to our sanctuary (the beach). Amenities are constantly being upgraded. In our personal opinion there is no where better to spend a summer.

It’s a great location, but if you like peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. The campers are packed in like sardines. There are so many dogs that it’s loud most of the day starting around 6am. I love animals, but that was a lot of noise. With the campers so close, it felt like there was zero privacy. Between the noise from the kids at the playground, the animals, and whatever construction is going on at the beach at all hours, not to mention the ferry horn all day long, it was not enjoyable. I cut my trip short and just went home. I have 9 indoor rescue dogs myself, so I love animals. That should tell you how loud the campground was. It is in a prime location though. Bathroom facilities were ok. I just used my camper because there was always a line to shower. The staff was very nice. I just prefer state parks with more space.

I've camped here many times for the combination of laid back beach vibe, woods, and history, coupled with terrific migratory birdwatching. And don't miss getting some fresh seafood or steamed takeout from nearby Skinner's Seafood.

We stumbled across this place while traveling and needed a place to sleep. We chose this on a whim and ended up staying on the island for two nights because this campground gave us a welcoming and safe place to lay our head while explored the island. The ladies that work the shop and registration desk were full of helpful insights and seems happy to hand them out. We rearranged our trip on advice that they gave and we're happy that we did.
We tent camped and while the sites are pretty much on top of each other as everything is in this RV park it didn't matter since everyone was respectful to the noise curfew and friendly. We spent most of our time away from the campsite so we didn't get to use most of the facilities such as the community center which hosted a magic show and a dance the weekend we were there. There is a dedicated fish cleaning station so that the bathrooms stay clean.
We were able to take a short walk out to the beach one night and see the sunset.

We love this campground. We have been here several times. Lots of trees, path to beach, dog friendly, showers are great.

We have always had a wonderful experience at Dauphin Island campground. The office staff is always friendly and helpful. We love the easy access to the beach, the fort, the aquarium, and BGH Cafe. The laundry area, bathrooms, and showers are very clean and the grounds are well maintained. Can't wait to return.

We absolutely love this campground. The bath house and laundry room is clean, the beach is gorgeous and the workers are friendly.

We were there in October of 2022 and will be back for may and some of June and I absolutely can't wait. I have not one negative thing to say about this lovely campground. The office staff is extremely sweet and helpful. The bathrooms were always clean and such a great convenience.  The location is great . I absolutely love the path to the beach and most of all the family feel. The sites/lots are a great size as well and the prices are affordable.  They make it to where you can still be abel to go and enjoy a vacation as we all know it's hard these days. I highly recommend this campground. ❤️❤️❤️

Campground is okay. Spaces vary a lot and you can’t designate a space, at least not before you arrive. However, the location is awesome! Beach is dog friendly as are all the trails nearby. You can walk forever. There are several bird sanctuaries designated on the island and all have forested trails.  The one next to the campground is a bird watchers paradise. Fort Gains is worth a look, as is the aquarium, all a short walk from the campground. We loved our stay on Dauphin Island.

Campsites are spacious and there are lots of trees,  but facilities are old and a little worn and WiFi is offered but almost unusable.   Easy bike ride up and down the island.  Easy access to beach.  I recommend this park and would stay here again,  but 3 stars only because of above  issues

We stayed two weeks and enjoyed every minute.  Laundry is convenient and so nice, beach is a short walk away,  friendly people, walking distance to Fort Gaines and sea lab.   Be sure to take ferry over to  Fort Morgan and Gulf Shores

Nice place to stay. We called the day of our stay and they were able to get us in.  Could not book online which is the only reason it is not a 5 star in my book. You also can’t show up after 6pm, would be nice to have late check ins. Camp cites are extremely close to the beach which is awesome! Bathroom was clean and very nice showers!

Mostly used by seasonals who stay all summer. We stayed there for an island wedding and it was good for what we needed to be close to wedding activities. This is definitely a campground where I wouldn't stay longer than a few days but it is close to visit the Estuarium, the Fort and beaches.
