Named in honor of Charles Deam, Indiana’s first state forester, this sprawling 1,300-acre park is centered around a shimmering 194-acre lake. It provides a forested retreat for RVers looking to disconnect from the hustle of daily life while still enjoying reliable utility hookups. The park is characterized by its dense woodlands and well-maintained grounds, offering a true sense of immersion in the natural beauty of the region.

Location & Surroundings

Conveniently located in Borden, IN, the park sits just 20 miles north of the Louisville, Kentucky metropolitan area. Despite its proximity to a major city, the surroundings are remarkably quiet, nestled within the Clark State Forest. The rolling hills and deep valleys of southern Indiana provide a picturesque backdrop for your stay. RVers will find the drive to the park scenic, with straightforward access to regional highways that connect the quiet countryside to necessary urban amenities.

The campground at Deam Lake SRA is designed with the outdoor traveler in mind, offering Class A electric sites that accommodate a variety of rig sizes. Guests have access to modern comfort stations equipped with hot showers and restrooms, as well as a convenient dump station and potable water fill-up points. For recreation, the park features a spacious swimming beach during the summer months, multiple playgrounds, and a boat launch for those looking to explore the water with electric-motor watercraft.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities here. The park serves as a primary trailhead for the Knobstone Trail, Indiana’s longest rugged footpath, making it a premier destination for serious hikers. Anglers frequently visit to catch panfish and bass from the lake's calm waters. Beyond the park boundaries, visitors can explore the local orchards in nearby Starlight or take a short drive into Louisville to visit the historic Churchill Downs or the Louisville Slugger Museum.

Gorgeous Park and campground that we've visited many times. The lake is beautiful. Camp sites are nice. They have electric but the downfall is no water which is very inconvenient. The bathrooms definitely need work. The men's showers have actual doors and benches to put your stuff on while in shower...the womens however have only shower curtains with no doors on stall, no hooks to hang anything and no benches to put your stuff on. Also the shower heads need improved...they literally shoot out full force towards curtain flooding outside floor and everything around.

Small state park with a lake and camp sites. The lake has a beach area that is officially closed for the season. However kayaking and paddle boarding has been opportunistic tbis past week. The trails are moderate and provide a beautiful scenery up and down the terrain.

Nice camping areas right off the lake. rustic cabins are nice and affordable.was able to launch and retrieve my canoe right from campsite and leave it ready to launch my whole trip. Lake is also nice. With only electric motors allowed.

Took my son kayaking for his first time and we had a blast. Beautiful lake with a small beach, roped off swimming area, fishing dock, and boat ramp. Park rangers were very friendly and made sure we had all necessary permits. We will definitely be back!

Very nice beach area. Lots of parking. They have a nice bathroom with showers (hot water ❤️) located near the beach area. Everything was clean, even with a lot of people there. Numerous picnic tables and grills. You can rent kayaks and row boats $35 from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. and NO motorized boats allowed to prevent contamination in the water. Soft sand and perfect water depth. WILL be returning
