Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA Holiday
Welcome to the Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA
The inviting waters of Wheeler Lake surround this KOA, perched on a peninsula and dotted with native trees. The campground makes the most of its enviable setting, with sites overlooking the water, right along the waterfront and tucked among the shade trees. Thanks to the campground's own boat ramp, it's easy to get out on the lake for a carefree day of fishing, water-skiing or exploring the TVA chain of lakes. A sandy beach welcomes swimmers, and there's plenty of space for strolling and bird-watching. Rent a kayak, a canoe or a bike (child/adult sizes) to explore the lakeshore or campground. Max pull thru: 75 feet.

This is a great place to stay whether you’re full timers or here for a weekend. Almost entire campground is paved which is helpful for kiddos or adults to ride bikes. They have a beach area, playground, plenty of open areas to picnic or fish. It’s a very peaceful place on the lake. All of the staff do such a great job maintaining the grounds and facilities. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Tracey, Lisa, Frankie and the rest of the team are all wonderful. It’s clear they truly care about their guests and we are so glad to have stayed here!

Giving them four stars because the roads are very narrow and the gated entrances are also narrow, so it's a tight fit if you have a newer travel trailer or RV. Most campgrounds now have a person in a golf cart that drives you to your spot, they hand you a map and send you on your way. On the plus side, ample camping spots with lake access. Access to rental jet skis, boats, etc. And plenty of boat access for your boat. They also have several pavilions for cooking out next to the water. The ladies at the counter are friendly and greet you when you walk through the door.

For years this place was known as Mallard Creek. Just a place to pitch a tent and swim or fish. Now KOA kampgrounds of America. Have resurrected this place as a Resort. Beautiful sites with full hook ups to primitive camping. Even have rustic cabins with ac. Clean is an understatement. Gated for your security. Plenty of amenities everywhere. Kayaks , canoes and live music on occasion. Did I mention horseback riding close by. The staff is amazing and overly hospitable. Don’t miss out on a great getaway not far from home. Make your reservations soon , it may get full quick.

My experience with Beyonder was easily the best it could have been! I stayed here to bring in the New Year with my children in a peaceful setting. I actually booked a tent site. I didn’t account for the weather so Lisa reached out to me the day of to offer me a cabin at the same rate since I had my babies with me and she wouldn’t feel comfortable with us in a tent in those conditions. When I tell you I was blown away! And the cabin was beautiful! They took care of us during our 3 night stay. It was so peaceful. And the sunset is to die for! I plan on coming back when it warms up to give my babies their first tent experience. It’s a beautiful site ran by beautiful people and will be my go to for mini vacation with the babies!

We stayed over a week here. All of the personnel were very easy to work with and friendly we felt more like family than customers. The whole campground is clean and well kept. Wifi was very good and we had good reception with Verizon. Bathhouses are very nice and clean. A friend of ours rented a cabin and liked it very much. It was very nice. Fishing was fun and we also went out on our boat while there. It was too cold to swim but there is a nice beach for the warmer months. My grand kids loved the playground. Oh I almost forgot that there was horseback riding too. We enjoyed riding our bikes around the campground. It is close enough to stores if you need to run to town for anything but they have a lot of essentials in the general store. The laundry was clean and functioning very well. I cant say enough about how nice this place is.

This was our first time camping and KOA Decatur/Wheeler lake exceeded our expectations! Our waterfront site was nice and level, easy to back into with the trailer, and was only a short walk away from the bathhouse. The showers and bathrooms were very clean. There is a small general store some food, drinks, firewood, and general camping/fishing items. We were able to check in late, we’re always met with a smile, and really enjoyed our stay! We will definitely be back this summer to enjoy the small beach, zip lines, and maybe rent a jet ski.

Nice place. Very friendly staff. The camp sites are nice. The bathrooms clean. Lots of trees. And of course the water.

A beautiful campsite, near the lake view was beyond beautiful, clean and pet friendly. The area is truly in a nature setting, enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the “egrets” everyday. All was great except the Wi-Fi, only worked near the check in office…would definitely would return.

My group just left there this morning (2/28/22). Wonderful campground with wide open spaces and lovely views of the lake. Our site, #21, was waterfront and I mean waterfront! Shower house was a short walk, clean, and well maintained. Hosts were so nice and helpful. I recommend 100%. 🙂👍

Beautiful, serene setting with many lakeside sites. In or near a wildlife preserve with beautiful bird life near shore sites. Purchased by a couple who are revamping and adding facilities. Very clean amenities. Kayak and pontoon boat rentals plus a launch for your own boat. On-site worship facility and minister.
