Destruction Bay RV Lodge
Overview
Destruction Bay RV Lodge serves as a vital stop for travelers navigating the legendary Alaska Highway. Perched along the eastern shores of Kluane Lake, it offers a blend of practical utility and breathtaking natural beauty. This is not a high-traffic luxury resort, but rather a peaceful wilderness retreat that provides all the essentials for long-haul explorers making their way through the rugged and remote Yukon Territory.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated in the tiny community of Destruction Bay, historically named after a massive storm that damaged construction equipment in 1942. The most striking feature of the location is Kluane Lake, the largest lake entirely within the Yukon, which features vibrant, glacier-fed turquoise waters. Surrounded by the towering St. Elias Mountains, the park provides a front-row seat to one of the most dramatic and untouched landscapes in North America.
Amenities & Park Features
The lodge offers functional facilities designed specifically for the needs of seasoned road-trippers. Guests can utilize full hookup sites with power, water, and sewer connections to refresh their rigs. For those driving larger motorhomes, the level pull-through sites make the setup and departure process exceptionally simple. Additional conveniences include on-site laundry facilities and clean hot showers, which are highly valued amenities after several days of traveling through the northern wilderness.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find themselves at the gateway to incredible northern adventures. Kluane National Park and Reserve is just a short drive away, offering world-class hiking trails and unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing. Visitors often head to Sheep Mountain to spot Dall sheep grazing on the slopes or explore the vast shoreline of Kluane Lake for trophy fishing and landscape photography. The area is also famous for flightseeing tours that showcase massive glaciers and Mount Logan.
Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for Alaska Highway travelers seeking a reliable, safe, and scenic place to rest during their journey north or south. It is perfect for those who prioritize a stunning lakefront view and a quiet, natural atmosphere over organized resort-style activities. If you are an RVer who appreciates high-latitude landscapes and convenient access to deep national park wilderness, this lodge serves as an excellent basecamp for your unforgettable Yukon journey.

Jun 2024, Place is officially closed, up for sale. Sign in window says, leave $40 in mailbox, you can park and use 30a hookup, no dump or water. After overly long day from Tok, heavy rains, customs and construction delays, killing hours, this is perfect rest, pic is 11pm, one of the most stunning places you can camp.

Very basic. It has 30 amp electric, no water, sewer, or trash. It is quiet and you can see the lake in the distance. The office doesn't seem to be manned. It looks like the property is for sale.

Stopped here for lunch and the staff were super helpful, yummy fries. Great shop attached to the restaurant with souvenirs, clothing, books, postcards, foodstuff, groceries, and all sorts!! We’ll worth a stop.

We had a nice breakfast on our way through. Great waitress. So helpful and attentive. Food was good. The place was very clean. Prices fair, considering inflation and remote location. Spent time in the gift store. Interesting items, hubby bought a jacket and other items for a reminder of our trip.

Destruction Bay Lodge and RV camp is a must-see stop on the Alcan Highway. I have stayed there several times and always been highly impressed with the owner operator. Business is slow because of the restrictions on Canadian travel. The RV camp is shut down right now because of seasonal weather, but the owner is eager and hoping for a good spring season this year. I cannot stress enough you must visit this location, keep the local business alive in a location that is purely heaven.
