Douglas Tailwater is, without question, the best campground I have ever visited. This location fully deserves its 5-star rating, providing an experience that seamlessly blends tranquility, spectacular nature, and excellent service. The atmosphere here is absolutely perfect. The park is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, and being parked right beside the river provided a visually stunning and relaxing backdrop for our entire stay. The wildlife sightings were the highlight of the trip: we were treated to a spectacular, unforgettable show when a bald eagle swooped down and successfully caught a fish—not just once, but twice! Beyond the natural setting, the campground is exceptionally well-managed. The grounds are impeccably maintained, showing that the staff truly cares about the environment. Furthermore, every staff member we interacted with was helpful and genuinely friendly, ensuring our stay was smooth and welcoming. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful escape with professional service, Douglas Tailwater is the only choice.

This campsite is beautiful and clean. In all honesty would be a 5 star review, but the owner is exceptionally unprofessional. It is one thing to enforce site rules; it is another to curse out a paying customer for accidental

Had a hard time at this place. Only stayed 4 hours the first night and none the second night. No refund given for second night. There was a razor blade right on the ground. Glad my kid was older. The ground was too hard to even get the tent up. Wouldn’t give me the site I wanted on the website even though no one was there. Was only 2 over. That would have gave us more space. Keeping my money is kind of scammy since we didn’t stay there

Very nice campground, gravel, river front, shaded, level sites, peaceful and quiet, enjoyed bird watching. Front desk people were the sweetest and most accommodating. Best to call to reserve a spot instead of booking online. We loved staying there and hope to be back soon! Can’t beat the price!

This campground is off the river downstream from the Douglas dam. The water is up during the day and lowers at night. A quiet camping experience with minimal sites. The restrooms are clean and well taken care of. The staff are kind and helpful. Only down side is the bridge traffic.

This is a diamond in the rough. Easy access and spacious site. The people the work in the site are absolutely the nicest people you will meet. We will be back many times.

Being full timers we must say… This place was nice, quiet, with a beautiful view! The showers are hot, and clean! The spaces have lots of room and come with a table and fire pit. They have a little store to purchase ice and firewood. Your within a short drive to everything in Sieverville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Smoky Mountains, and Knoxville.

It's really a nice place and we go there every year. The staff works very hard at keeping everything clean and neat for everyone. I definitely believe the campground deserves a 5 star rating.***** That's why we keep coming back year after year.
