Overview

Ekstrom's Stage Station offers a nostalgic look at Montana history while providing modern conveniences for the contemporary traveler. Established in 1946, this park is more than just a place to park an RV; it is a family-owned landmark known for its rustic charm and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are often drawn to the western-themed storefronts and the legendary on-site restaurant that serves up comfort food in a setting that feels like a step back in time. It provides a peaceful, shaded retreat under a canopy of mature trees for those traversing the Treasure State.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Clinton, just a short drive east of Missoula, the park is nestled in the scenic Clark Fork River Valley. The property is surrounded by towering pines and provides easy access to some of the state's most pristine wilderness. Travelers will find themselves perfectly positioned between the convenience of the city and the rugged beauty of the Lolo National Forest, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the scenic mountain corridors of Western Montana while remaining close to major travel routes.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features spacious RV sites, including large pull-thru spots designed to accommodate modern big rigs with ease. Most sites offer full hookups with both 30 and 50-amp service to ensure a comfortable stay during the summer months. Beyond the basics, the park provides clean restrooms, laundry facilities, and a charming on-site gift shop filled with local Montana crafts. The true highlight for many guests is the historic restaurant, famous for its homemade pies and hearty traditional meals that satisfy even the hungriest travelers after a long day on the road.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate being minutes away from Rock Creek, a world-renowned destination for blue-ribbon fly fishing and wildlife viewing. The nearby Clark Fork River offers opportunities for rafting and floating during the warmer months. I had the most wonderful experience at Ekstrom's Stage Station Campground. It is incredibly peaceful here - best sleep I’ve had in awhile. The atmosphere is top notch. Grounds and facilities clean. Hot shower. Clean water. Laundry. Library. Poo bags for my dog. Store, ice and gas nearby. Amazing views nestled in nature. But what really made this stay for me was the staff and owners - they are such beautiful people. Pat, the camp host went above and beyond. I felt so well taken care of while camping. I would give 10 stars if I could. Truly one of the best camping experiences I have ever had. You will not regret booking this campsite. I could keep raving - but I should probably cut this short. Just know, I am beyond impressed with this campground and staff, words don’t do justice.
