Absolutely loved this little gem of a camp ground along the river! Beautiful setting, right off hwy 50, and was free! As a solo female with my dog and cat felt totally safe! There were a few other camps set up but not crowed. I just wanted to get a little rest before driving more, would definitely come back to stay longer next time. The sites are equipped with picnic tables, grill, and fire pit. There was a toilet but seemed to be locked during the morning when I was there.

So nice I love how the camp host this year extended the time from when they close this year. Until October except September. Lovely experience

Awesome little campground! Camp host was super friendly. Pit toilet was exceptionally clean, fresh spring water was amazing! And the river nearby was the icing on the cake!

Beautiful place to camp. The river was so relaxing and wonderful just looking at it. Came in Friday morning about 11, had 3 choices to fit our 35ft 5th W right up next to river. Host was very pleasant and helpful, wish I had gotten her name. Bathrooms clean and many of them, there's even a dump station! Would come here again for sure!

Nice small campground right off of Hwy 50 in Kyburz. Most of the campsites are right next to the river. The bathrooms are relatively clean but the toilets are outhouse style and do not flush. There are no shower facilities so you're really roughing it unless you have an RV. Bring insect repellent as the mosquitoes and other insects are plentiful. The couple that run the campground do a nice job of maintaining it

A campgrounds set amongst the trees along the south fork of the American River. An idyllic setting to relax, hike, swim or fish. The highway noise may bother some but I'm a sound sleeper and the traffic at night is light. Vault toilets, dumpsters, water spigots are dispersed around the sites. There is a dump for RVs and a spigot to refill your water tank. There are sites across the river too. Could be a group area as most are tent only. Huge swimming hole near spaces 10 and 11. Fishing was tough because of the boulder strewn shoreline. There a single and double sites. Most sites have plenty of space to spread out. Good signal for Verizon. Weak signal for T-Mobile.

We happened upon this site one late afternoon looking for a place to camp for the night. On an impulse, when seeing the brown sign for the campground we turned in, drove down the hill hoping our 36 foot Phaeton and tow car would fit. George, the camp host of 12 years and counting and another camper, whom had just arrived greeted us and helped us get into the site. We were hooked. the campground is secluded, down a grade in a flat and sandy place along the American river. We boondocked overnight (there are no hookups but water and dump available) and the next morning signed up for 4 more nights. It is wonderful, quiet, peaceful and we would return in a flick of the key. Don't miss it. You must meet George and his wife and find peace and a quiet place near South Lake Tahoe. Want an an easy getaway that's right off of Hwy 50, tucked under huge pines and offers direct access to a beautiful snow-melt stream? Sand Flat Campground offers easy-in RV spots in addition to traditional camp sites. The camp hosts are amazing and friendly. Firewood is available for purchase and each site is pristinely manicured. Many reviews mention that the road noise is terrible, but if you're in an RV, it makes it easier to run your generator because you won't feel guilty about the noise!😂 Just a heads up- they don't have RV hookups, but they have a dump station. We came for just one night to try it out, but we will definitely be back!
