Beautiful place. I’m pretty sure I seen a wolf roaming around that campground in the off season this year. I’ve seen a lot of coyotes in my life but I’m pretty certain it was a wolf. It was larger and lighter in color overall than most coyotes I’ve ever seen. Silver Lake is one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Silver Lake off Highway 88 is a beautiful alpine lake with many trails for fun off the water, it also offers great fun for kayaking and boating.

Had a great time here for two of our three nights... but on our third morning the campground host hits us with unexpected news! Even though he'd been by our site every morning and evening for two days he waited until the absolute LAST MINUTE to tell us our spot was reserved for later that day. We didn't know that, the sign posted had only said that the previous reserved group had moved spots so we were able to get that area in the first place. So on the Fourth of July of all days, we had to spend 2hrs packing up all of our stuff and going to another spot in the grounds. To make it all worse, the group it was reserved for? They were no-shows! We tried to find the host for a partial refund due to all of the inconveniences that we were put through but the old guy just happened to be missing from his area for the whole morning we were packing. That's right, our new spot was right by the camp hosts and he disappeared Monday morning. Ugh. Sad first time visit there, but hey, at least they had plenty of bathrooms and running water I guess... -_-*

Nice campground here set among the trees. Close enough to hike over to Silver Lake. Lots of campsites some are ♿️ handicap accessible. Lots of early morning folks head over to go fishing. Beautiful high Sierra lake that is good for swimming and waterskiing after a morning of fishing. Very cool / cold nights. Tent and RV spots.
