update July 2025 camp ground closed due to last years fire. Cool camp ground in the Oaks, several trails nearby for hiking and Biking. Mainly a tent camp ground although small trailer will fit in some sites and the road to get there is steep!

This campground was so extremely huge! Every where was nicely cleaned up, the bathrooms were pretty clean as good as they can be for being outside!

Super friendly campground host, great pit toilets, our first time camping with no tap water, not a problem. The campground was nicely busy but not overcrowded on weekend. It was eerily quiet in weekdays, spooked us a little the first night. High elevation, so the weather varies depending on whether you're in the cloud or not. Great individual sites. 30 minutes drive to nearest town.

Beautiful campground with oak and manzanita everywhere. Large sites spaced mostly far apart, with well maintained camp tables and fire pits. You can often get firewood from the camp host. There is absolutely no water at the site, so make sure to bring plenty. We had zero bugs, but apparently there can be biting flies in hot weather. Highly recommended.

We typically choose dispersed camping but it’s difficult to find nice spots close to LA, especially for tents. This campsite allows you to feel safe around other campers without compromising those wilderness vibes. The views en route are stunning! Just be prepared for the drive up the narrow mountain road (you can park where you camp). We arrived at 2am and were able to set up in a big space with a grill rack and fire ring then pay the $32 nightly fee when the host did their rounds the following day. Downside is there are A LOT of flies so we didn’t hang around as long as we might’ve done otherwise.

We stayed in this campground as this was a last minute trip and everything else nearby was fully booked, but we definitely didn't regret it. The campground was very quiet during the week in mid August, the sites are shaded and there is a good distance and sometimes even elevation change between them. It was our first time dry camping, but it wasn't an issue - we found that we need very little water to wash our hands and dishes. I was a bit worried about mosquitoes and flies, but at the time we were there were none. The drive up is scenic, but a bit narrow and windy at times, you definitely have to be careful. There are places where 2 cars can't pass each other. It takes about 30 mins to get down to the nearest town. When we were there fires were not allowed, but propane stoves could be used. Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to air quality - while the air was still ok in the valley, the smoke was more dense at the elevation of the campground and we started having trouble breathing and sore throat. We might be more sensitive than most people, but it's something to keep in mind during fire season. Hopefully we'll be back in better times.

This was our first time coming here and it was a great experience. There were some drawbacks, but I'll get to those in a bit. We booked our trip in July, the weather was pretty good. We experienced a high of 84 and one of the nights it was down at 52! We did read that it gets cold at night so luckily we brought warm clothes to sleep in. Having a beanie and warm blankets helped get through the cold nights. Second night was a low of 64, so that wasn't too bad. I like to book my campsite as close as possible to the restrooms to make the trips short, but just an FYI, these restrooms have a really bad smell. The restrooms are kept very clean, but the smell comes from the vent. We could smell that stuff from our campsite, so I would recommend choosing a spot not too close to these restrooms. The campsites looked very nice in size, there was some distance between sites. I like my privacy and I like that there were many small trees providing tons of shade and separation from neighbors. The sites have a BBQ pit and a fire pit. Unfortunately a fire restriction was placed the day before we arrived so we couldn't use either or. They allowed us to use a gas stove. There is no running water as mentioned so we brought extra to drink, wash dishes, and shower. They do sell water at the site, but it is very expensive so be sure to bring a lot of water.

Its a nice campground with clean facilities. I don't know how it is the rest of the year but early June and late May didn't have any mosquitoes. Good time had by all.

Beautiful campsite that was pretty clean and we'll maintained. I only wish they'd had running water for things like washing dishes. The camp sites are very spacious and quiet. There were limited amounts of firewood and gallon water available to buy.

Great hiking, we did a loop trail through oak groves hillsides and streams. Banana slugs abound as well as other wild life. The wind does kick up pretty good so tent camping is a bit rough but worth it.
