Roads are pretty much wash board, and everyone seems to think going 35 and making you eat the dust is ok,🚒 where is the fire. Thumbs down.

This would’ve been 5 stars but we go there last night, paid at the iron ranger then find the gates to the campground locked. The recreation.gov site said open thru September. Since it was getting late we didn’t want to turn back and we boondocked in the day use area along with a few others. Gorgeous and quiet.

USFS campground contracted to American Land and Leisure. AL&L is ignoring this site. No evidence of a host (decrepit host site, weeds) in recent history despite signage to the contrary. Trash dumpsters were emptied, potable (?, not sock yet anyway hahaha) water available. Facility needs some TLC but great spot with killer views and access to the Green/Flaming Gorge. Sites are immediately adjacent to one another with parking side by side on the same paved pad and a partition wall in the sun and picnic shelter. Tent pads. Walk to baths which were locked sometime the afternoon of 9/2 after we paid. $33/night single site unless you have a discount. Not a bargain but access to water is nice in the desert. Night sky was fantastic. Rabbits, coyotes, one unconfirmed rattler down by the beach in the grass.

Well maintained forest service campground in a gorgeous (pun intended) setting in Flaming Gorge national recreation area! Clean bathrooms with flush toilets and a shower. Easy access to the lake for swimming or boating. Each campsite has a covered shelter with a picnic table, fire ring, and level parking pad. Well worth taking a scenic drive off the interstate to stop here. We’d definitely stay here again.

We were there July 20, 2025 for one night and a few updates needed. First this is a cool campground and the views are great. At the current time though there is no camp host and maintenance seems to have slacked off and the campground feels neglected. The bathrooms are clean enough and there was hot water at the showers but the lights are out of order. Some of the campsites need trimming of the trees as well. We never saw any USFS personal, And don't bother to make a reservation because there's no one to tag the sites to say they're reserved so people take sites as if they're fcfs. The dump station is in "working" order but the hose bib is leaking so the main valve is turned off (bring a wrench or pliers to turn it on. And the water is horrible so don't count on it to drink. As regards to being a "safe" place we totally felt safe here. There were about 5 other campsites occupied on a Sunday night.
