Roads are pretty much wash board, and everyone seems to think going 35 and making you eat the dust is ok,đźš’ where is the fire. Thumbs down.

This would’ve been 5 stars but we go there last night, paid at the iron ranger then find the gates to the campground locked. The recreation.gov site said open thru September. Since it was getting late we didn’t want to turn back and we boondocked in the day use area along with a few others. Gorgeous and quiet.

USFS campground contracted to American Land and Leisure. AL&L is ignoring this site. No evidence of a host (decrepit host site, weeds) in recent history despite signage to the contrary. Trash dumpsters were emptied, potable (?, not sock yet anyway hahaha) water available. Facility needs some TLC but great spot with killer views and access to the Green/Flaming Gorge. Sites are immediately adjacent to one another with parking side by side on the same paved pad and a partition wall in the sun and picnic shelter. Tent pads. Walk to baths which were locked sometime the afternoon of 9/2 after we paid. $33/night single site unless you have a discount. Not a bargain but access to water is nice in the desert. Night sky was fantastic. Rabbits, coyotes, one unconfirmed rattler down by the beach in the grass.

Well maintained forest service campground in a gorgeous (pun intended) setting in Flaming Gorge national recreation area! Clean bathrooms with flush toilets and a shower. Easy access to the lake for swimming or boating. Each campsite has a covered shelter with a picnic table, fire ring, and level parking pad. Well worth taking a scenic drive off the interstate to stop here. We’d definitely stay here again.

We were there July 20, 2025 for one night and a few updates needed. First this is a cool campground and the views are great. At the current time though there is no camp host and maintenance seems to have slacked off and the campground feels neglected. The bathrooms are clean enough and there was hot water at the showers but the lights are out of order. Some of the campsites need trimming of the trees as well. We never saw any USFS personal, And don't bother to make a reservation because there's no one to tag the sites to say they're reserved so people take sites as if they're fcfs. The dump station is in "working" order but the hose bib is leaking so the main valve is turned off (bring a wrench or pliers to turn it on. And the water is horrible so don't count on it to drink. As regards to being a "safe" place we totally felt safe here. There were about 5 other campsites occupied on a Sunday night.

Great place to go for solitude and great views! There was drinking water at the dump station, so fill-up before you roll-into camp. No electricity, but it cooled-off enough at night, so we didn’t need to use our generator to run the air conditioning. Nearby (~50 feet away) was a restroom with flushing toilets, though no showers. Very few other campers, only 3 other sites were occupied so we had the great views all to ourselves! T-Mobile didn’t have any service, so used our Starlink.

I didn’t let my family camp here. There was no host, campground was basically empty, rattlesnake warnings posted and snake holes in the campsite, there were 3 active wildfires in the area and a 4th started a few miles off as we drove away, there was no information about this. Didn’t like that the sites were dual but didn’t seem like an issue as there was only one other active campsite. The weather was very windy and we could see lightning not far off, there wasn’t any cell service so we decided to drive into Rock Springs and get a better idea of the weather when we could see and confirm there was a fourth fire so we just booked a room in town and did not look back. We have camped all the way across the country and this is the first time we have left a campground, it just didn’t feel safe.

Amazing… 2nd stay here and favorite spot I’ve literally ever camped. Beautiful view, clean bathrooms, I almost want to leave 1 star and a bad review so it’s a less sought after place. We decided to not even use our tent and sleep under the stars. I will say, don’t sleep on the ground unless you’re in a tent or enclosure. There were lots of ants and there are rattlesnakes there. Shooting stars, incredible sunset and sunrise, cools off at night which is perfect to bundle up by the fire and enjoy your family or a romantic evening. Just go there and see for yourself.

This site gets 5 stars for location and views, but only three stars for the facilities. The views are spectacular. Firehole Canyon is a hidden gem and we were totally blown away by the beauty all around us. The sunrise and sunset were amazing. The camp facilities are tired. There were hot showers but the lights in the bathrooms were broken so we had to take our showers before nightfall. Several other items were broken or worn. The sites are set up in pairs so if you did end up with someone next to you you would literally be only a few feet away. Fortunately the camp was nearly empty when we were there so that wasn't an issue. The host (Chuck) was really friendly. Overall a very good experience.

Quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Only thing that wasn't great when I went was the fishing. Camp host chuck and his dog Rona were awesome. It's a great opportunity for someone to find some peace and reflect. If you go don't plan on having cell service, no electricity, but there is drinkable water and even a hot shower.

Beautiful views, and quiet even on Memorial Day weekend.
