Freeport Durham KOA | Durham, ME RV Park

Most KOA's are right off the highway. This one is pushed back just far enough to be nice and quiet. We've workamped for KOA and stayed at many in our travels. This one is ranked pretty high. They even have stables! Sites are pretty level. For a KOA the sites in the woodline are spaced out and roomy. Cost per night was great too! We will be staying again for sure!

Gotta say, I was blown away with this camp.  We stayed In a cabin, which really helped manage two kids. The cabin was clean, cozy and comfortable. The whole camp itself was clean, well managed and friendly. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained.  The pool was clean and had a really cool slide.
Above all else, we were there for their off season Halloween night… what an absolute treat. The people (I should say family) who ran this really put their hearts and souls into the very fun performance; it was hilarious, wholesome and had a nice light scare to it. I really applauded them for going the extra mile to entertain the families with something fun.  Really left a great impression on me, and I can’t wait to go back.  I’ll never forget “Stinky Pete”, who “smells worse than a north-bound skunk”
If you’re wondering if you’ll like this place, you won’t, you’ll love it.

Large KOA campsite
We got a site in the woods that was dirty with dog droppings and it took a while until we got a response from the office and we moved to another open site but clean and quiet. There is a quarry next to the campsite so in the morning you hear the beep beep of the heavy equipment, not very disturbing.
Overall for overnight parking with a caravan it was fine

This is a really nice KOA. My only complaint is that we are next to a sand quarry or something and there is incessant industrial beeping that starts at 7am sharp and apparently continues all day. The campground itself is nice with nice lodging options and clean bath houses. I’m looking forward to an upcoming trip here on a weekend and hopefully won’t have to listen to loud high pitched beeping all day. I would not come back during the week for this reason. If it’s something that happens on weekends as well, I likely won’t be back. It’s just not relaxing to hear construction noise all day. Staff are nice. Gift shop is adorable… it’s unfortunate that it’s not peaceful during day.

Stayed here for a week while the grand went to LLBean camp.   Nice location with full hookup.  Spacious site, great weekend activities for kids, pool, bingo, etc.  only down was dust because it was so dry.  Oh, there is a farm with horses and a donkey adjacent to the campground.   Grandson loved the donkey

Quiet well kept large campground. Staff is friendly and helpful. Great place for an extended stay or just an overnight stay while going to or coming f om Canada

Very nice staff! The roads could use some TLC …..probably just worn out from a busy season!  Campsites are spacious but the rv sites that begin with B have a quarry right behind them and the big trucks begin at 7:00 am! A little loud! Great gift shop!

We had a wonderful stay at the Freeport/Durham KOA.  The staff were friendly, the place was clean and our campsite in the woods was quiet and peaceful.  We enjoyed the extra activities for the kids, as well as the pool and the playground.  The highlight was being able to pet the beautiful horses and cute donkey.  We would definitely recommend this campground!

We reserved a group tent site and were given E37 for 2 nights. To call this a site, let alone a group tent site, is a stretch. All the cabins in the vicinity were occupied by the same group, making our site little more than a short cut and extra parking spot for them. They walked right through the middle of our site all weekend, headlamps and everything. Friday night they were up until after 1am with no enforcement of quiet hours. We had to leave the campground to get any peace. When we returned after dinner on Saturday evening we found the store had closed an hour early, leaving us unable to purchase firewood for the night. The staff was friendly enough, the newer bathhouse was nice, and the actual tent sites looked ok but DO NOT let them put you at E37 unless you just want to be an awkward inconvenience for those around you. They should just make the site an extra 2 parking spots for the cabins.

We enjoyed our stay! Typical, no frills tent site which was perfect for a short trip to Maine. Within 30-45 minutes of greater Portland attractions!
The only negative thing is that the bathhouse could have been tidier. I often found the showers to be dirty. Also there is a quarry next door so it was a little noisy for a tent site, but I don’t think you could hear any noise if you were RV’Ing. However, for the price and amenities, they did a good job building this KOA. Seems to be a local favorite, lots of seasonal campers it looks like. Keep in mind nearest towns are 15-30 minute drive so you may have to drive to see any attractions, beach, or to find restaurants.
