We came in a few days after the campground reopened after cleaning up after Hurricane Helene. This was an amazing place to camp. There's a beautiful creek that runs right behind some of the sites, as well as hiking trails nearby. There was plenty of firewood. The camp host was very thoughtful and made sure to clear as many leaves and sticks from the tent sites as possible. One of my favorite spots we stayed at on our camping trip.

This is a favorite spot just minutes from my childhood home. I enjoy being able to slow all the way down and enjoy true ntouched nature as it was meant to be. The campground is small. My rig just barely fits at 35', and anything larger would not fit. Half the sites have water and 30 amp power and the rest are dry camping sites. All the driveways are paved and clear of trees. Starlink works ok here. Satellite connections are somewhat inconsistant due to heavy cloud cover at times.

No shower!!! Camping spots are okay. Most electric hookups are reserved. First come first serve policy, except reserved, but look at the dates on each spot. No cell service!!! No Wi-Fi. Property manager was cool. If you’re bicycling the TransAmerica east to west, from the camping spot, it’s a 5 mile steady climb. After that it’s smooth sailing down about 6 miles. Look for available spot first. $20 no electric $27 electric CASH ONLY Pets…probably more idk Pay in a envelope at front kiosk box and drop in metal cylinder Make sure to tear off your receipt and car mirror receipt on the front of the envelope.

It's a smaller campground located (a little too) close to a road, but it's beautiful. The electric/water sites are closer to the road, while the primitive sites are more near a stream that surrounds the rest of the campground. Included are two sets of restrooms and a dump station, water fill station and dumpster. There is plenty of firewood to be scavenged with much of it being pine, though. Dogs are allowed. In April 2022 the cost for a site was $20 ($10 with a special pass) plus $7 extra for an electric/water site. Cash only at the self pay station. We stayed at a site that put us near the stream and the road. While the road noise was there it didn't disturb our stay. The stream was pleasant to hear as we fell asleep, and it endlessly entertained the children during our stay. Next to the campground are a couple of trails that we found: 1. The horse trail that connects several locations throughout the area and 2. The Dickies Knob trail, which is a 5.5 mile out and back hike to the top of Dickies Knob. This moderate trail is gently sloped all the way to the top where you'll find what appears to be the foundation of a tower and a few markers. Views are great up there without leaves on the trees, but will become obscured as we move into May. Nice hike, would recommend highly. Finally, our camp host was amazing. He checked up on folks at the campground to make sure everyone was good. He was friendly and courteous; we enjoyed several conversations together.

It was a great campground when it was open, but is now closed due to facility issues.

Excellent campsites, beautiful mountain view. Friendly and helpful camp host named Andy, I believe. Enjoyed our stay while we were there and highly recommend it for those who like primitive camping. They do have RV spots as well.

Great small National Forest campground. Couldn't have asked for better. The traffic on 16 can be a bit loud at times but didn't keep us from having a blast. There is a great creek to play in. There is a hike to Dickie's Knob and also horse trail passes nearby. Some sites have water and electric and only three have sewer. I highly recommend checking this campground out for a weekend or use it as a base to explore other sites around.

We Loved this little campground. It's so clean and quiet. We loved the way we could sit and watch the kids play and fish. The light parade was great. Thank You to the hosts for such a wonderfully kept campground. One of our best trips yet.
