Our time tent camping at Golden Eagle Campground was all around wonderful! The facilities were clean, the staff was kind and responsive, and it was quiet yet close to town. We would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to find a place to camp in the Colorado Springs area!

The campground is just 30 minutes south of Colorado Springs but feels like it's deep in the mountains. It's nestled in the foothills and has a fishing lake with a big shade tree and picnic table that sits a above the city so you just see sky, not city. We had full hookups and an incredible bug museum at the front office within walking distance of our campsite (which had a fire pit and picnic table). Firewood is $1/piece. Also, plenty off shade trees, swings, grass volleyball, basketball hoop, and tetherball! Highly recommend!

The campground staff beyond helpful and welcoming. Check in was smooth with all the information, and camp staff is constantly making laps around the campground. It’s a bigger campground so it’s nice to see a staff taking the time to ensure people are being courteous. They are also very flexible when able! Our spot was just a bit snug to fit our camper, and they found us 3 more spot options and let us take our pick. There’s tons of trails around, lakes and privacy at most sites with trees. The electrical and water hook ups can be a bit confusing as they’re hidden in the brush in some sites. Also very dog friendly as the staff would make laps on their golf carts with their pups too. This was an amazing start to our 11 day journey up to Alaska. We would definitely be back!

The flushing tiolets and hot showers were awesome and we really liked being able to go the little lake that had lots of rainbow trout.
Tent camping- the spots were clean and most seemed level enough. The rocks around the fire were convient for cooking in the fire. Bring your own grate.  Water and electric at the campsite were great.
Host handled a reservation mishap by letting us choose our own spot. We chose a spot without anyone next to us so we could spread out a little more cause the actual campsites could be more spacious (around 20ft wide) so if you're at a spot without bushes it wont feel very private. We would definitely book 2 spots next to eachother again when we come back.

We stayed at Golden Eagle Campground in Colorado Springs nearly every weekend last summer and truly had a great time for most of our visits. The location is beautiful, and we made a lot of good memories there.

However, our last night completely changed our perspective. We were told there had been noise complaints about our site, but this was never brought to our attention at the time. Had we known, we absolutely would have addressed it right away.

What was most upsetting was that our camper was disconnected from electricity that night without any warning. This was not only frustrating but also dangerous, as my husband relies on oxygen and needs consistent power.

When we tried to discuss the situation, the owner confronted us instead of handling it in a calm and respectful way, which made things even more uncomfortable.

It’s unfortunate because we really did enjoy spending time there, but the lack of communication and how this situation was handled left us disappointed.

The staff was nice so that’s why they are getting 2 stars. Other than that, we almost dragged our back end going in and out of the campground. We were within 3 inches of dragging. If you are longer than 30 feet you should not be using this campground. The playground was absolutely pathetic and so run down I wouldn’t let my daughter play on it. The grass probably hadn’t been mowed in weeks. The trees are all overgrown and will
Hit larger rigs. The power pole was shared and the water spigot was in the ground so we couldn’t attach our filter. The sight was horribly unlevel as well. There are long term rigs there that are trashy. Overall I would recommend going anywhere else.

The person checking us in, Nik, was warm, friendly, funny, and enthusiastic. We got site 137 and if you like shady areas with minimalist camping it’s *almost* perfect. Not the ideal for ground sleeping but still very comfortable and most importantly for us it felt homey. The site owners, the May family came around 5:30pm asking if we needed firewood or anything and mentioned they’d be back around 9:30 for last call which was very nice as we had just gotten settled in for the day.

The showers and bathrooms were almost perfect, the only want would be a little wider stalls and curtains for the showers, but that’s easily outweighed by the fact that I had to adjust the temperature DOWN and I take some pretty hot showers. Seriously, hottest shower I’ve had, even better than a motel!

The only real complaint I have about site 137 is that there were two trees right in the middle of the tent area, not even far enough apart for a kids hammock, but we set our tent right in front of the opening and it was like a cute and cozy archway for us.

They also had plenty of information regarding black bear safety that I notably didn’t see at another campground we stayed at earlier this week. As well as a fishing lake and campground hiking trail if you’re inclined.

Easily one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at and I can’t wait to visit again with a better planned stay!

Overall, the experience was good. It was a bit confusing at first to figure out which space was ours and which fire pit belonged to us, but by talking to others at nearby campsites, we figured it out. The staff is always making rounds, either to sell firewood or just to check in. They have two lakes—one for fishing (which you have to pay for), and another one, but when I went, it was dry. That really bothered me because you don’t find out until you arrive and they tell you. They should improve in that area by informing visitors ahead of time or posting it on the website for those who are expecting the full experience.

The bathrooms are more than adequate—always clean and the hot water worked. The showers are a bit small, but you can still get a proper wash. There’s not much to do, honestly. The hiking trail is just a short 1/2 mile path, not very impressive, but it’s something. The fishing lake has a nice view and is peaceful—I recommend waking up early and having a coffee by the lake. They should add more benches in that area, as there’s only one.

I enjoyed camping in Golden Eagle. I stayed here for one night in site 232 during my visit to Colorado Spring. I really love this campground. The staff are really helpful. They are always accessible for any help and provide a very clear Map to your spot that I have never seen anywhere else. They keep the facility well maintained. The showers and restrooms are always clean.

We love this campground. Friendly helpful staff. I love that they make regular rounds to insure everyone has a safe and fun time. Bathrooms are always clean and accessible. Next time we will stay a few more days! A great place to bring the family. Thanks for everything! See you again soon!!

I personally love a rustic campground. Was not jammed in, had plenty of space.
This park is a gold mine, but they definitely need some work.
The roads are in bad shape and the sites are not level.
The place was packed.
Put some money into your park.
Clean up these roads.
Bathrooms are clean. So they truly have a gem here.

But seriously fix up your roads and level things out!

We got the deluxe spot so there is plenty of room between you and the next camper. Definitely worth the extra fee. The people in the office were super friendly and they have the family bug museum in the office which was really cool. There were a few kids around but it was always super quiet. Everyone there was respectful of the other guests.

Beautiful surroundings and friendly people here, all within a short drive from the Colorado Springs attractions. We saw deer, turkeys or pheasants on a regular basis, and even once saw a strange mammal that I think is a rare ring tail cat!  We stayed during the winter, when the park is normally closed, so we had the unique experience of being snowed into a winter wonderland on the side of a mountain. We weren't fully prepared for some of the challenges that would bring, but the resident staff there were able to help us through all the difficult moments.

The maintenance chief, Elton, is like a kindly and wise mountain-man who makes sure your site continues to get fresh water in, and just as important, sewer water out during frigid mountain temperatures. He also has advice on how to winterize your RV so that you don't have the pipes freeze underneath during cold snaps. I can't say enough good things about these folks. This campsite is far better than the many "parking lot" style campgrounds off the side of the highway that you come across. For the real mountain experience, go to Golden Eagle!

I recently had the pleasure of camping at the Golden Eagle Campground, on Rock Creek Canyon Rd.
I live in the Springs and just wanted to "get away" for a few days. It felt like I was in the mountains! The campground was very clean,  the other guests were so nice.  I saw deer both days walking around the campground,  and the hosts that keep everything going, day and night, were so very kind.
Which brings me to Jim, Missy and Jessie!  I had a personal emergency arise,  they came and picked me up at my campsite,  I sat in their home with them for at least 2 hours, and Missy actually drove me home later that night.
I cannot express the appreciation and gratitude I feel for that family. Thanks so much for your gracious hospitality...

A cheap motel would have been better. It's like camping in a sardine can. Way to many people and not enough space. I'm pretty sure a good majority of people there might be homeless. Very rough. Not a quite place to relax at all. It also says online a beautiful view of pikes peak! If you can see through the giant rock that's directly in front of pikes peak. It seems like they make money just not money that will go back to the park!

What a beautiful spot. Really close to Fort Carson if you're visiting family

It was fine.   Not fancy.   A little antiquated but gets the job done.
