Golden Eagle Campground is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is a great place to camp and explore the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. The campground is situated in a scenic valley surrounded by towering mountains and lush forests. It offers a variety of camping options, including RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. Amenities include a swimming pool, playground, and picnic area. The campground is also close to many attractions, including Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Golden Eagle Campground

The staff was nice so that’s why they are getting 2 stars. Other than that, we almost dragged our back end going in and out of the campground. We were within 3 inches of dragging. If you are longer than 30 feet you should not be using this campground. The playground was absolutely pathetic and so run down I wouldn’t let my daughter play on it. The grass probably hadn’t been mowed in weeks. The trees are all overgrown and will
Hit larger rigs. The power pole was shared and the water spigot was in the ground so we couldn’t attach our filter. The sight was horribly unlevel as well. There are long term rigs there that are trashy. Overall I would recommend going anywhere else.

The person checking us in, Nik, was warm, friendly, funny, and enthusiastic. We got site 137 and if you like shady areas with minimalist camping it’s *almost* perfect. Not the ideal for ground sleeping but still very comfortable and most importantly for us it felt homey. The site owners, the May family came around 5:30pm asking if we needed firewood or anything and mentioned they’d be back around 9:30 for last call which was very nice as we had just gotten settled in for the day.

The showers and bathrooms were almost perfect, the only want would be a little wider stalls and curtains for the showers, but that’s easily outweighed by the fact that I had to adjust the temperature DOWN and I take some pretty hot showers. Seriously, hottest shower I’ve had, even better than a motel!

The only real complaint I have about site 137 is that there were two trees right in the middle of the tent area, not even far enough apart for a kids hammock, but we set our tent right in front of the opening and it was like a cute and cozy archway for us.

They also had plenty of information regarding black bear safety that I notably didn’t see at another campground we stayed at earlier this week. As well as a fishing lake and campground hiking trail if you’re inclined.

Easily one of the best campgrounds I’ve ever stayed at and I can’t wait to visit again with a better planned stay!

Overall, the experience was good. It was a bit confusing at first to figure out which space was ours and which fire pit belonged to us, but by talking to others at nearby campsites, we figured it out. The staff is always making rounds, either to sell firewood or just to check in. They have two lakes—one for fishing (which you have to pay for), and another one, but when I went, it was dry. That really bothered me because you don’t find out until you arrive and they tell you. They should improve in that area by informing visitors ahead of time or posting it on the website for those who are expecting the full experience.

The bathrooms are more than adequate—always clean and the hot water worked. The showers are a bit small, but you can still get a proper wash. There’s not much to do, honestly. The hiking trail is just a short 1/2 mile path, not very impressive, but it’s something. The fishing lake has a nice view and is peaceful—I recommend waking up early and having a coffee by the lake. They should add more benches in that area, as there’s only one.

I enjoyed camping in Golden Eagle. I stayed here for one night in site 232 during my visit to Colorado Spring. I really love this campground. The staff are really helpful. They are always accessible for any help and provide a very clear Map to your spot that I have never seen anywhere else. They keep the facility well maintained. The showers and restrooms are always clean.

We love this campground. Friendly helpful staff. I love that they make regular rounds to insure everyone has a safe and fun time. Bathrooms are always clean and accessible. Next time we will stay a few more days! A great place to bring the family. Thanks for everything! See you again soon!!

We tent camped and had a great experience. We were able to check in late and the camp host came to welcome us and bring firewood.(1$ split log) The shower stall were equivalent in size to a small RV shower but the water was hot. Fort Carson is across the highway. Reveille plays in the morning and Taps at night. At night we heard the base conducting live fire helicopter operations for our group this was a fun experience. We will more than likely return.

This campground was phenomenal! It was beyond gorgeous, quiet, and has some of the friendliest staff I’ve ever met. I could chat with these lovely ladies in the gift shop all day. Extra bonus is that these were the cleanest, most well kept bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a campground. I will gladly travel from Kansas again just for this beautiful campground. Highly recommend!

Very responsive staff that is always willing to support you and your family to the fullest. Fantastic views of the mountains with multiple hiking trails. This campground is located close to the city for supplies but far enough out to enjoy a cup of
Coffee watching deer stroll through your site.

Full time traveler @whatrvdoing - Best campground in Colorado Springs and possibly all of Colorado.  We spent just shy of three weeks here. The sites are huge. The grounds are gorgeous, with lake and mountain views. Wild turkeys, deer, and super rare Aberts Squirrels roam about the grounds. The squirrel will definitely catch your eye as it has long ears and a black coat!  I loved riding my bike up the trails on site - the great views were so worth it. We also hiked the trails.  Organic campfire pits are a nice touch. Huge tractor tires for kids to climb on (I did too ;). Herkermer is MASSIVE and the museum is absolutely mind blowing. It’s a must see, honestly you won’t regret it. Lastly the gift shop has some camping gear, a whole bunch of fun gifts, and some good learning tools for little ones.

We stayed at the campground in our very large fifth wheel for 18 days and it was awesome! It actually feels like you're camping. You have an incredible backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and beautiful scenery everywhere. It's very peaceful and I love that it's close enough to the city and things to do, but far enough that there is such a great feeling of safety out here. The staff are amazing. It's family owned and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The bug museum is also so cool, I couldn't believe the collection. There is a cute park for the kiddos that our son enjoyed and a really pretty lake for fishing or just walking around. We look forward to coming back!

What a beautiful spot. Really close to Fort Carson if you're visiting family

It was fine.   Not fancy.   A little antiquated but gets the job done.
