Grand Canyon/Desert View

I got my military pass, which was beneficial since we took our dogs with us, & it may have been better not taking a pooch... Yep, spent around 10 mins checking out 2 spots for viewing. Our dogs are turds, so we took a few pix, vids, & left, checking off the Grand Canyon off the bucket list. We did see Elk right as you enter, & fat squirrels. Restrooms were decent, & hoping to go again one day without our dogs.

Carved over millions of years by the Colorado River, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is one of the most celebrated natural wonders on Earth. The park encompasses 277 miles (446 km) of the river canyon, stretching up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and dropping a mile (1.6 km) deep, exposing nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history. Choosing how to experience the park typically depends on which "Rim" you plan to visit, as they offer vastly different perspectives, environments, and seasonal access. The Two Main Rims 1. The South Rim (The Classic Experience) Accessibility: Open 360 days a year, 24 hours a day. It is the most popular, developed, and heavily visited side of the canyon. Vibe: Bustling, historic, and highly panoramic. Key Viewpoints: Mather Point (right by the main visitor center), Yavapai Point (excellent for geology lovers), and Desert View (featuring Mary Colter’s historic 1932 Watchtower). Getting Around: A highly efficient, free shuttle bus system runs along the rim, connecting lodges, visitor centers, and major trailheads (like Bright Angel and South Kaibab). 2. The North Rim (The Rugged, Remote Alternative) Accessibility: Highly seasonal, typically open only from mid-May through mid-October due to heavy winter snowpack. Vibe: Much quieter, wilder, and less crowded. It sits at a higher elevation (over 8,000 feet / 2,438 meters), meaning it is cooler and heavily forested with aspen, birch, and ponderosa pine trees. Current Note: Following a significant wildfire (the Dragon Bravo Fire), the North Rim has reopened with restricted services. Paved scenic drives (like Cape Royal and Point Imperial) are fully accessible, but there is no indoor lodging available within the park on this rim; visitors focus primarily on day-use, camping, and backcountry hiking.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is absolutely breathtaking! The views are spectacular in every direction, with endless layers of colorful rock formations and stunning scenery that photos simply can’t capture. Whether you’re watching the sunrise, sunset, or just taking in the incredible vistas throughout the day, every viewpoint offers something amazing. The trails are well maintained, the park is easy to navigate, and the sheer size and beauty of the canyon leave you in awe. This is truly one of the most incredible natural wonders in the world and a destination everyone should experience at least once. Highly recommended!

With over 78,000,000+ views on my Google reviews as a Level 9 expert Google Reviewer, I always aim to give clear and honest feedback. Grand Canyon National Park lives up to everything people say about it. From Mather Point to Yavapai Point, Duck on a Rock Viewpoint, and the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, every stop offered breathtaking and unforgettable views. It honestly feels like looking at a giant painting and photos simply do not do it justice. I loved how well everything was planned and connected, allowing visitors to walk between many of the viewpoints and enjoy different perspectives of the canyon. The park itself was well maintained and organized, making it easy to explore and enjoy the experience. For the more adventurous visitors, there are hiking opportunities down into the canyon as well. There were washrooms available throughout some areas, which was appreciated, although a few could use a little more attention when it comes to cleanliness and maintenance. Still, I was happy there were facilities open since some others were closed during our visit. Definitely bring water, take lots of photos, and allow yourself time to really take in the beauty. It is one of those places that leaves you speechless. Free to go in and places to park.

The park facilities and layout are very well designed. There are excellent viewing points. Mather point being the most popular, however the viewing places on Desert View road are well worth the time. The architecture in the park, both old and new is sensitive designed and maintained. The landscaping is well designed and maintained. The trails are kept in good condition. The staff is friendly and helpful, even when answering questions they must get many times each day. Truly a brilliant place. The canyon is without hype a wonder of the world. At all times of the day and in all kinds of weather it is awe inspiring. Everyone should come here at least once in their lifetime.

Speechless! The views are absolutely gorgeous. It was chilly enough to keep our jackets on during our early March trip. My only regret? Not bringing binoculars. There is lots to do in the South Rim, from hiking, camping, and biking to mule trips and dining. We drove in from Tusayan and paid a $35 vehicle entry fee (good for 7 days, so keep your receipt for re-entry), and while parking inside is free, it’s a gamble during peak hours. The park is very dog-friendly, but keep a sharp eye out for elks. We spotted several near the Watchtower and on the streets, so we made sure to keep our pup at a distance. Truly a bucket-list experience!

Just wow. The scale is unimaginable until you see it in person... and even then it's still hard to fathom. Rangers and staff are super helpful with lots of information and tips to share. Definitely go into the canyon, even if it's only for a mile.

Mind blowing visas plus exhausting yet rewarding hikes down into the canyon make this place a must visit! Completely exceeded my expectations. Don't miss Yavapai Point and South Kaibab Trail. Keep in mind the hikes down into the canyon are HARD on the way back up, so be prepared ESPECIALLY if it's hot. Plan your sunsets and sunrises since that's when the views are next level! Can't go wrong with Mojave Point or Hopi Point at sunset.

Photos don’t do justice to this place. Do visit the South Rim at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center near the canyon village for breathtaking views. Mather point is good for sunrise. If you plan to go on a hike, bring food and water as there are no restaurants at the visitor center except for a cafe at the bike rental center. Visit the geology museum. It’s nice and is at a walkable distance. I visited in Jan. Mornings are cold but it gets better during the day so carry light jacket. Entry fee is $35 and can be purchased online. There are shuttles available every 15 minutes from visitor center to different view points. There is plenty of parking space at the visitor center.

Grand Canyon was amazing!!! I have wanted to visit Grand Canyon for so long, and we finally did this summer!!! Absolutely gorgeous, and the view is just stunning 🤩!! The weather was also great, with the sun out while staying dry. We stayed for 3 days, and the cabins were also beautiful, with the view just looking towards Grand Canyon. It was wonderful to be able to see the view that I only used to see in textbooks. Everyone should definitely visit here when they’re in Arizona!

We were in Arizona and visited the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Breathtaking, magnificent, and true natural wonder. No words can describe the experience. A definite add to anyone's bucket list. We cant wait to go back and see the north rim

Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most extraordinary destinations in the world — a true masterpiece of nature. The canyon’s vastness, intricate layers of rock, and vibrant colors create a landscape that is both humbling and unforgettable. Whether viewed from the rim or explored from within, every angle reveals a new perspective on the Earth’s incredible geological history. The park is exceptionally well-maintained, with a variety of experiences suited for every visitor. Scenic viewpoints offer stunning panoramas, while well-marked trails provide opportunities for hiking, photography, and solitude. The sunrise and sunset views are particularly breathtaking, painting the canyon in golden and crimson hues that defy description. Park rangers and staff are professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about preservation and visitor education. Their guidance enhances the experience, ensuring that guests can explore safely and responsibly. In every sense, Grand Canyon National Park stands as a testament to the beauty and power of nature. It is a destination that leaves a lasting impression and should be considered an essential stop for anyone seeking to witness one of the world’s greatest natural wonders.

In love with the grand canyon national Park. Despite the government shut down, we did not experience any difficulties staying within the park.. the employees were amazing and helpful. The paved hikes are really amazing because it was easy taking the kids (4 year and 11months) to watch the sunset and stargazing. God truly is the best painter. Beautiful rims.

It is just nature magic. No photo or video truly captures its beauty. There were dogs with their humans. A couple were not friendly and then there were some like mine that were just chill and didn't pay anyone or anything any attention. They were happy just smelling around. The first day I went the restrooms were clean and well stocked. The next day was the first day of the government shutdown and nothing was kept up. Restrooms were bare of soap and toilet paper. People were rude and had paper and stuff all over the floor. The gift shop was closed. So that was unfortunate that happened.

Breathtaking views, the blue route driver Tim made our day, such an awesome friendly guide and very attentive to all people- opposite to the very rude lady driver who work red line at the sunset time in September 30- she was so laud and rude to the elderly asking her question about next stop. She needs to ride Tim s bus and learn some patience.
