Grape Creek RV Park Campground & Cabins

Overview

Grape Creek RV Park Campground & Cabins offers a peaceful retreat in the heart of the Wet Mountain Valley. Located at an elevation of nearly 8,000 feet, this park provides a genuine Colorado mountain experience. It serves as a quiet home base for travelers looking to escape the hustle of more crowded resort areas while enjoying the rugged beauty and dramatic silhouettes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated just south of Westcliffe, Colorado, a town famous for its Dark Sky community status. Visitors are treated to unobstructed views of high-altitude peaks and wide-open meadows. The setting is characterized by its proximity to Grape Creek, which adds a soothing natural soundtrack to the stay. The surrounding landscape is dominated by ranch land and pristine wilderness, offering a sense of isolation without being too far from essential town services.

Amenities & Park Features

Guests can choose from a variety of sites including full hookup RV spaces with both 30 and 50-amp service. For those traveling without an RV, the park offers cozy cabins and dedicated tent camping areas. Essential facilities include a clean bathhouse and laundry room, ensuring a comfortable stay for those on the road for extended periods. The park is pet-friendly and provides Wi-Fi access, though the main draw remains the outdoor communal spaces and the crisp mountain air.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do within a short drive. The Sangre de Cristo Wilderness offers miles of hiking and biking trails, while fishing is a popular pastime at the nearby DeWeese Reservoir. A visit to the quirky Bishop Castle is a must-see local landmark for those interested in unique architecture. Because of the area’s commitment to minimal light pollution, the night sky provides some of the best stargazing opportunities in the state, right from your campsite.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for travelers seeking a tranquil, nature-focused environment rather than a high-traffic resort. It is a perfect match for astronomy buffs and outdoor photographers who want to capture the Milky Way or mountain sunrises. It also suits families and retirees looking for a slow-paced basecamp to explore the scenic high-country charm and quiet rural culture of Custer County.

We stayed here for a month because we loved the view of the valley and the mountains. If you're looking for a park with several amenities this is not it. No real dog park but a nice area to walk your pups and a short dirt road. There were alot of small barking dogs in the mornings. If you want to sleep in good luck! Some of the rv spots could use a little TLC. We had a few long tree branches that scratched one side of our 5th wheel. We had to trim it back upon arrival and before leaving. The shops in Westcliffe are a must when coming here. If you like to hike there's several great trails to explore!

Nice. Well kept. Friendly owners and guests. All hookups. Neat Bathhouse and facilities. Surprised with a Blueberry pancake breakfast on the house.

We celebrated a birthday party here with a large group of people. The hostess could not have been kinder or more accommodating! So helpful! Wonderful tent and RV sites and cabins!

First time visitors - what a great place to stay! Great RV spots, all have fantastic views. The bath house are very clean and so well maintained. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, takes great care of the property. We will be back often(and coking from Indiana is saying something)!

The RV park is very nice. The views from the park are fantastic. The green mountains and valley are beautiful. The management is friendly and are helpful; I have new friends now. The sky is very dark here. The park is good for deep space and planetary astrophotography. The new “winter” sites have a great view of the sky without blocking trees.
