LAND ROVER

November 11, 2025

Okay.So if you look at my reviews, I am a level nine master reviewer, and I never I repeat, never give one star.Reviews, but I feel this needed to be done. First of all, we were told we could not show up after dark. They do not allow after hours check-in. Well, we had a full day in Asheville, going to the Biltmore, and upon returning it was dark. There are no signs at all showing you. There is a 1000 trails at the end of this dead end road. You come in the middle of the mountains on a very small TWO lane road, and again there is no signs letting you know. There is a 1000 trails campsite, right off of these mountain roads. You will miss it every time and sometimes the GPS does not work.. They have the thousand trails flags right up by the office. And I would highly suggest putting those thousand trails flags out by the road kind of funny. They say they don't take after our check. In and there's no way to let you know where it's at kind of fishy for a big company.!!!! Now let's talk about the property holy moly guacamole...ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CONDITIONS... THERE IS THREE BATHROOM SHOWER FACILITIES ON THE PROPERTY AND TWO ARE CLOSED.I WAS TOLD FROM ANOTHER SIX YEAR.TENANT, THAT THE BATHROOM'S HAVE NOT BEEN UPDATED SINCE THE OPENING OF THE PLACE!! YUK!!! SO THAT MEANS OUT OF 700 DIFFERENT SITES. EVERYBODY GOES TO ONE SHOWER AND BATHROOM FACILITY. I DIDN'T TAKE A PICTURE OF IT, BUT JUST IMAGINE. THEY HAD A FLOOD EARLIER THIS YEAR.I BELIEVE IN JUNE WHICH MAKES IT SEVEN MONTHS SINCE THE FLOOD AND THE ROADS ARE DESTROYED.THEY HAVE CONES DETOURING YOU AROUND THE BROKEN ROADS, BIG GIANT HOLES POTHOLES, HUGE PLACES TO BOTTOM OUT YOUR RIGS, TREES FELL DOWN ON BUILDINGS STILL SITTING THERE.THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE IT WAS IN AN EARTHQUAKE!!!! ON A GOOD NOTETHE LADY WHO CHECKED ME IN WAS PRETTY NICE.POOR THING, SHE WAS JUST DOING HER JOB. TINY LOTS EVERYBODY'S SAUSAGE PACKED IN NO GRASS TONS OF UNEVEN GRAVEL VERY ONE STAR TYPE OF PLACE. IF THIS IS YOUR TYPE OF VIBE BY ALL MEANS PULL IN, BUT I WILL NEVER RETURN HERE AGAIN. AND ANYONE READING THIS KEEP GOING, MAYBE 7 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. A LOT MORE OPTIONS. 🗣PLEASE 1000 TRAILS. GIVE THIS PLACE A SALE OR FIX IT FAST!!!! THIS PLACE MAKES THOUSAND TRAILS LOOK BAAAD!!!! ok back to five stars reviews 🤢🤢

This is an older campground so of course the sites aren’t as large as the newer campgrounds around. The roads do need some maintenance but I think a lot of of that the damage was due to Hurricane Helene that completely devastated and destroyed most of the area in WNC, so unfortunately that is out of the campgrounds doing. It will take time & more revenue to completely restore what was lost. This was a mini trip for my husband and I and I will say this, we absolutely loved this campground. We truly enjoyed the hiking trails and the views we were able to see on each one. It was so amazing to have so many hiking opportunities within walking of your campsite. It’s was a quiet, peaceful & relaxing trip for us. The office personnel were very friendly.

DO NOT GO HERE! I've been a full time RVer for over 4 years - I've stayed in 100s of campgrounds- dozens of boondocking sites - only about 30 States but working on the rest- this is without a doubt the worst campground I've ever been in. You're taking your life into your hands getting down the 1 road to get there- very thin lanes with hairpin curves and idiots driving way too fast around curves - almost had a front end crash because the maniac came around a blind curve in my lane while I was going to get some food. 2 RVs have to drive on the shoulder and part into the drainage ditch to pass. And that road is nothing compared to the campground roads. A go cart race track looks like an Interstate highway compared to the ridiculous turns in the campground. And the map is useless - it says " not to scale" but it should say " unrelated to reality"! Roads that don't exist are on the map and roads on the map don't exist. I drove around trying to follow the map to get out first almost an hour until a couple of annual residents helped me and led me to the exit. There's no water in large parts of the campground - NO WATER! How do you live if you can't flush the toilet or wash your hands, much less cook??? There's NO CELL SERVICE! I couldn't even get satellite radio. The very overpriced campground WIFI sucks! This site's are so thin I needed to rub the deck with my right sides tires to have enough room to open my left side slide-out. The deck is decrepit- moldy rotten wood with rusty nails sticking out and moss growing on it.

The pool was nice. That’s the highlight but it goes downhill from there. The fact that they list a tennis court an amenity is laughable. Lots of areas just completely run down - it’s obvious they need to spend some money in upgrades

We were very disappointed with our recent visit. The pool was not open during Memorial Day weekend due to a “broken part”—the same issue that occurred last year. This kind of delay suggests poor planning; necessary parts should be kept on hand, especially ahead of major holiday weekends. The upper road remains unrepaired, and there are heavily eroded sections at the 700 entrance. The block retaining walls in that area appear unstable and on the verge of collapse. Tree overgrowth is another issue—trees need to be trimmed back throughout the campground and on nearby state roads to accommodate taller campers. NCDOT may need to be contacted regarding the state roads. Many campsites were uninhabitable. It appeared that only the permanent sites in the “downtown” section were being maintained, while others—including those in the 700 section—were overcrowded and in poor condition. We were not given the option to choose our site and were packed in with little space or privacy. Additionally, the office was locked, and we had to conduct business through a window, which made check-in and communication feel impersonal and inconvenient. Overall, the lack of maintenance and customer care significantly impacted our experience.
