Griff's Valley View RV Park offers a peaceful retreat on the edge of the Des Moines metro area. This family-owned destination is known for its meticulously maintained grounds and scenic vistas of the Iowa countryside. Unlike crowded urban parks, it provides a spacious atmosphere while keeping guests close to city conveniences. It strikes a balance between a quiet country stay and a modern RV basecamp with reliable infrastructure for travelers passing through the Heartland.
Location & Surroundings
Located in Altoona, IA, the park sits on an elevated ridge that provides its namesake views. The surrounding area features rolling hills and green spaces, offering a buffer from the bustle of the nearby highway. Despite the tranquil environment, it is situated just minutes from the major thoroughfares of I-80 and US-65. This makes it an ideal spot for travelers navigating the Midwest corridor who want a serene place to rest without straying far from their route.

Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for RVers who appreciate a quiet, professional atmosphere without the noise of a typical family resort. It caters well to retirees, long-term travelers, and those visiting the Des Moines area for seasonal events. Because of its wide paved roads and large sites, it is a top choice for owners of big rigs who need easy maneuverability and a stable, level surface for their stay in Iowa.

This is my favorite RV park in all of Iowa. There's no age discrimination for your rig, it's very pretty, well maintained, extremely clean, and enough showers for everyone. Stay awesome Griff's, we loved you!

Tried to come up with something to complain about in our two weeks here. Couldn't come up with anything. Super fair prices, big spots, grounds are gorgeous, get to anything you can imagine within 15 minutes, great customer service. Too bad you can't get in during the summer. Added to my list of stops when travelling from here on out.

I love the staff, I love that there's no discrimination on trailer age. (If it ain't broke don't buy a new rig), it's so pretty with community rooms and more.. very reasonably priced. So far one of my favorites of the whole country.

This was the first time we have stayed at this park. We are full-time RVers so we stay in lots of parks. This park is one of the nicer ones. Concrete pads. Good paved roads. And quiet. There is a very large Facebook data center nearby. You can’t miss it. Driving to the park. But we didn’t hear anything from it. Probably my only complaint is that there is a lot of corn nearby. We were there during harvest and I’m quite allergic. Not the campground‘s fault.

We arrived and had a mix up with spots but it was fixed immediately. The staff are friendly and helpful. The whole campground is clean and well kept. My kids loved the park behind one of the shelters and were able to go fishing in the pond. They also love the horses and got to go see them when we pull in. This was our 2nd time staying while visiting for the wrestling season and we will definitely be back. The scenery all around is beautiful and quiet.
