Happy Jack Lodge & RV Resort
Overview
Happy Jack Lodge & RV Resort offers a refreshing mountain retreat nestled within the towering Ponderosa pines of the Coconino National Forest. Sitting at an elevation of approximately 7,000 feet, this destination serves as a premier cool-weather sanctuary for travelers looking to escape the intense Arizona desert heat. The property expertly combines a rustic, historic lodge atmosphere with modern RV conveniences, providing a balanced experience for those who want to immerse themselves in nature without sacrificing essential comforts like a full-service restaurant and bar located right on the premises.
Location & Surroundings
The resort is situated in the heart of northern Arizona high country along the scenic Lake Mary Road. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the rugged beauty of the Mogollon Rim, offering dramatic cliffside views and dense forest canopies. Unlike the arid shrublands found further south, the environment here is lush and fragrant, filled with the scent of pine and fresh mountain air. Its somewhat remote location ensures a peaceful stay away from city noise, yet it remains conveniently accessible from Flagstaff or Payson for a well-rounded road trip experience.
Amenities & Park Features
Guests will find a variety of accommodations, including spacious RV sites equipped with full hookups and level parking areas. The park provides practical facilities such as clean restrooms, hot showers, and laundry equipment to make extended stays comfortable for all types of rigs. Beyond the basics, the resort features a well-stocked general store and a popular on-site steakhouse known as Jack's Place. The social heart of the park is the historic lodge itself, which often hosts live music and community events, creating a welcoming atmosphere where RVers can gather and relax.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts are perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the high country. A short drive leads to the C.C. Cragin Reservoir, also known as Blue Ridge Reservoir, which is a top-tier spot for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The area is crisscrossed with miles of forest service roads and hiking trails, making it a popular playground for ATVs and mountain bikers. Wildlife viewing is also a major draw, as elk, deer, and turkeys are frequently spotted wandering through the timber surrounding the resort's sprawling 100-acre grounds.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal match for families and outdoor adventurers who want a dedicated home base for forest recreation. It is particularly popular with valley residents seeking a escape during the peak heat months of the summer. If you appreciate a mix of rustic forest camping and the social perks of a mountain lodge, Happy Jack Lodge & RV Resort provides a cozy and scenic setting for a multi-day retreat deep within the Arizona wilderness.

Great place to getaway and spend time in the great weather. They have all the amenities and services most campers will need. Definitely a place to revisit.

The campground is nice, Unfortunately, the front counter Lodge staff is not. They definitely need some friendlier Front counter people helping campers. No smiles, No flexibility, No Customer Service skills. Maybe because there’s not a lot of camping options in that region. Everything is overpriced From the camping spots to the items in their store. They even charge a $15 fee to visit any camper’s spots now. Seems to be a very greedy business. A lot of longtime campers have moved to different campgrounds because of this. Hopefully their management will actually read the reviews and make some changes.

We only stayed one night so the experience is limited. We checked in at the office/store (the store is really nice). We had already paid over the phone so it went pretty quickly. I was disappointed to see that we were so far away from the showers/bathrooms that we wouldn’t use them. I had to ask for a code for them. It wasn’t offered to me. But this is a HUGE property and so far as I know only one shower/bathroom location. They also allow people not staying here to use them at a fee. They don’t have wifi. None. You have to bring your own or hotspot from your phone, if it has any service. For the price of the stay I would have expected WiFi. My fault. I didn’t ask. We had dinner at the restaurant. I didn’t find the pizza to be very good but the servers we talked to were really great. Stefanie was one of them. There was a real party atmosphere across from we were parked for the night. The crowd didn’t shut it till about 11:30. People seemed happy and enjoying themselves here.

Stayed for two weeks and loved the peace and quite. Site's are big. Grounds are kept nice and restaurant was good. The ladies at the front desk were mostly cordial, just wish there were more friendly smiles. Ralph was a hugh help and so friendly. Will stay again if the opportunity rises.

Tried to book and enjoyable stay at Happy Jack RV park and cabins requested a cabin with a full kitchen and when we arrived we got a one bedroom cabin with a microwave. Lack of communication over the phone that I would be given a smaller cabin was not made clear and ruined the trip! I will never return.
