Henderson Beach
Overview
Henderson Beach State Park offers a serene escape along the iconic Emerald Coast of Florida. Unlike the high-rise landscape often associated with Destin, this park preserves natural white sand dunes and coastal scrub, offering a glimpse into the area's original beauty. It serves as a true sanctuary for those looking to enjoy the Gulf of Mexico in a more peaceful, undeveloped setting. The park is renowned for its emerald green waters and miles of pristine shoreline, making it a premier destination for RV travelers seeking a coastal retreat that balances relaxation with outdoor adventure.
Location & Surroundings
Situated directly on the Gulf in Destin, Florida, the park is conveniently located yet feels worlds away from the city bustle. The site features over 6,000 feet of natural shoreline, providing guests with ample space to explore the rolling dunes and coastal vegetation. Because it is positioned between the ocean and Highway 98, travelers have easy access to local supply runs, grocery stores, and unique coastal dining options while remaining just steps away from the rhythmic sounds of the tide and the refreshing sea breeze.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features 60 well-maintained sites that accommodate both RVs and tents. Each site includes water and electric hookups, supporting both 30 and 50-amp service for modern rigs. Key park facilities include:
- Heated and cooled bathhouses with modern fixtures
- On-site laundry facilities for long-term travelers
- A central dump station and ADA accessible sites
These amenities ensure a comfortable stay while preserving the natural character of the surrounding environment. Boardwalks provide protected access to the beach without disturbing the fragile dune ecosystem.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the beach, visitors are just minutes away from the famous Destin Harbor Boardwalk, where charter fishing and waterfront dining options are plentiful. Nature lovers can explore the park’s own winding nature trail or head to nearby Destin Commons for premium shopping and entertainment. For those who enjoy water sports, the calm, clear waters are ideal for paddleboarding or kayaking, often offering travelers glimpses of local dolphins, sea turtles, and various coastal bird species.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for nature-focused families and couples who prioritize natural beauty and quiet evenings over resort-style commercial pools or busy activity schedules. It is a top choice for coastal birdwatchers and photography enthusiasts looking for unobstructed sunset views over the Gulf. While the park is pet-friendly in the campground area, it is best suited for travelers who want a scenic basecamp that offers a peaceful retreat while remaining close to the vibrant attractions of the Florida Panhandle.

It poured nonstop in Destin all day, and just when I thought the day was a wash, the sun suddenly broke through around 5 PM bright and golden. I headed to this beach, where red flags warned “dangerous,” but destiny in destin had other plans… blessing me with the most beautiful sunset.

4 dollars for entry, more than one person is 6 per vehicle for a carload. Beautiful beach, plenty of picnic pavilions equipped with shower rinse after your beaching is done. You can fish from this beach, they ask you stay at least 50 ft from other beachers if fishing. A-D pavilions to the left and E&F pavilions to the right. Beaches were free of any trash and is patrolled regularly by rangers on carts. Had a wonderful time, we spent 8 hrs there today and it was gorgeous scenery. No dogs, alcohol or glass allowed on the beaches. Have a wonderful time, we did!!

Parking is $6, but it’s definitely worth it. The ranger at the fee station was super kind and helpful. There can be a long line if you arrive in the afternoon. The $6 parking also allows in-and-out privileges. Restrooms are nice, and there’s plenty of parking space. The best part is the beach — absolutely beautiful and clean! Truly the best emerald beach.

We loved our experience at this beach! We paid a $6 dollar parking fee. Accessible restrooms, showers along boardwalk to rid yourself, and belongings of sand. It wasn't a crowded beach. The drive to the beach across the bridge through the shopping and hotel district was crowded. Make sure to plan your route to any beach. The beach was spacious, covered in white sand and shallow out into the ocean many feet. My family loved their experience.

Beautiful beach. There are showers to rinse off all the sand. There are restrooms nearby as well. Pretty crystal clear water enough to say that we believe we saw 2 sting rays at different times. We saw a couple jellyfish as well, but I did notice more and more showed up as the day went on. It was also nice to see little fish swimming around. Definitely come early or you will be waiting in a long line to come in. They limit how many people can come in as well. We went on Memorial weekend, got there around 9 am, and found a spot right in front of the beach with no waiting line to enter. The Rangers are nice people as well and informative.
